I cant say this was my favorite camping experience. The campsite was nice and flat plenty of room for our 8 person tent however it was SO windy I dont think anyone slept well we thought our tent might blow away. Also apparently they never change out the reserved signs so when we showed up some regulars at the campground were occupying our campsite rock climbing which was kind of confusing and also uncomfortable. They said that they keep reserved signs on all the sites all the time. Which obviously causes confusion. There are also no Joshua trees on the campsite or even near it so if you want a true Joshua tree experience maybe try a different spot. Also found a tarantula under our tent when packing up

An excellent spot to go camping, especially if you like bouldering! I have family who does it so definitely gonna recommend it to them! The breeze helped a lot in keeping cool, the site had some leftover stuff from the previous group but thats definitely not on the park, and the spot was wonderful to watch the Meteor Shower!

Delightful 2 night stay. Clean vault toilets, water at Ranger Station easy to access. Convenient to West and East sides of the park. We hiked the Discovery Trail as our warm up and then to Willow Hole for a great time in the rock formations.

Nice campground. Campsites are nicely situated in a rocky area, with a grill, table, and fire pit. Easy to get to and very quiet.

I have to say that the campsite was clean and well-kept and a great area for kids to play around in the site. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Cell coverage was spotty, but we were able to get some coverage when walking around the campground. We used a tent and a shade tent over the picnic table. We were able to see the Milky Way on a clear night, shooting starts, and even the Starlink Satellite train (it looked like a glowing worm)! There was a fire ban in effect, so we were not able to do a campfire. I have nothing but great things for the actual campground. On the other hand, the mosquitoes were HORRIBLE. I think it's the time of year that we stayed, so I would not recommend camping this time of year even if YOU'RE PREPARED for these bugs. Even with candles and the cans of bug spray we used, my husband and I and our 4 kids were getting bitten everywhere. Face, neck, hands, legs, and everywhere in between. On our last day we were breaking down everything (6-8am), we are all miserable because we were one of the two groups left at the campground and the bugs came and it was relentless. I would highly recommend camping in the Fall and Spring to minimize the amount of bugs present.

Indian Cove and its high desert setting is so picturesque. Surrounded by impressive rock formations, it offers plenty of hiking and climbing opportunities. We're not climbers ourselves but enjoyed watching folks scale the rocky faces.

We were site 14, next to a nice sized boulder. The fire ring is right beside the boulder and the glow of the fire looks awesome against the rock at night. We were close to the road but felt private. Site 13 is offset from 14 and the next site up were around the corner, it was relatively private. The day use area is amazing! Lots of rocks to walk around on. Restrooms were clean.I thought there would be a checkpoint to sign in but there's not. It would have been nice to pick up a map. There wasn't reception at our site but once we moved west, we could make a call. We did see some rangers driving around keeping an eye out. Weather was perfect in early March.

Very noisy with construction equipment cleaning up from the floods last year. Dog park is nice but dog beach has little water and concerning algae due to no water flow. Trails are great!

A good portion of sites not great for vans, trailers etc. Some eroded, many not level or have small parking area. Area is very nice with small natural trail and nice rocks around.

Very nice camping experience. The campsite was very clean. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the loud shouting from rock climbers in an adjacent campsite at a little after 6:00 am. I later learned they were Search and Rescue teams practicing, which I whole heartedly endorse; however, I wish they would have waited until after 7 am before the shouting began. Otherwise, this is an amazing Park and one of our favorites.

Had spot #14. Perfect for our 18 foot trailer. Quiet and nicely separated from other spots. We filled up with water at the ranger station. Convenient location for activities we had in the National Park and in Joshua Tree, the town.

I've been coming to Indian Cove for 30 years. The easy access to fabulous scrambling is the draw that keeps me coming back. The bouldering and top-roping is also good. Bring some light gloves, like baseball batting gloves, to keep your hands from getting raw, and spend hours hiking around massive boulders. This campground also offers close proximity (10min drive) to the growing towns of Joshua Tree and 29 Palms which have many interesting bars and shops... but not too close that you can't enjoy the absolute quiet and clear night sky back at the campground around a fire.

Indian cove is a lovely campground with few campers due to no electric and water hookup. The rocks there are amazing. The only negative thing was the amount of climbers learning the ropes in the camping area during the day.

Great campground! You get more privacy than the in park campgrounds. There are great boulders surrounding you that are terrific for climbing. The bathrooms were cleaner than expected. Only con was how close our site was to the road, the road around the campsite is dirt/rocks so it’s pretty loud at night.

Take plenty of water and have a plan on how you’re going to spend the hottest part of the day. We spent it driving through the national park and stoping off at certain locations rather than hiking. Mornings are windy so make sure belongings are secure
