Beautiful location. Quiet night. Sites are tight for RVs over 19 feet. It would be extremely difficult to do a Class C towing a car. Steep climb into park, and dramatic descent back out to interstate.

Camped in the Cottonwood B loop. Garbage dumpster was FULL when I arrived, and four days later it had not been emptied.Toilet seat was very loose, which made for a quite slippery #2 action. Bathroom was not clear upon arrival, and was not cleaned during my four day stay. No maps or guide books made any mention of "Hall of Horrors" rock formation.

Enjoyed access to a sink and flush toilet. Great stargazing. Close to Cottonwood Springs and Lost Oasis.

It was very windy especially at night. Lovely wide open space, I really like the ground texture. Its a fine gravel and its not dusty at all. Only issue is tent stakes need to be driven deep to anchor the tent in high winds. Quiet at night and great view of the stars if the moon and clouds cooperate.

Always great to visit this spot! Its always nice and quiet and the stars are always quite the site! The coyotes never fail to wake me up at least once per visit.

The Cottonwood CG is a good base to experience the Colorado Desert portions of JTree, but every day the motor-homes with GENERATORS in the campground shattered the peace and quiet from first light throughout the morning hours. If there are any generator-free quiet hours, they aren't posted or enforced. NPS can and should do better! We usually like to camp INSIDE the national parks to avoid the dirtbikes, generators, drones and other noisy motorized gizmos that are increasingly common outside JTree's boundaries. But the people who feel it's ok to run their generators at all hours seemingly without any remorse kinda ruin it for the rest of us. The Mastodon Loop trail was nice, but we ran into multiple individuals and groups that were "lost." The "trail" can, for some, be challenging to follow. One sunburned thirsty fellow said "It's really easy to get turned around out there." We had little trouble following the route, but we are experienced wilderness rangers. If you are not experienced at route-finding and following faint trails, our advice: take it slow, pay attention, carry a map (and know how to use it), don't rely on your phone to guide you, etc.

This is a nicely laid out campground and very quiet. We were surrounded by star watchers who were happy to share views of interesting objects. Quite hot during the day in mid October. Wonderful!

Toured some of the other campgrounds during my visit. All campgrounds very compact, Cottonwood seemed to have the most space between sites.

Super nice flat campground. On B23 you have the restrooms across the street and easy access to trash dumpster. We are also very close to some of the main hikes on the south end of the park.

Beautiful, mystical quality to this campground. Plenty to explore here and short drives away from everything else the park offers. Clean, well-maintained restrooms and potable water fountain a big plus.

Despite never seeing a camp host or park employee in the campground, the restroom and sites were clean and organized. The hike to Hidden Palms Oasis was great until the maintained trail ended immediately above the oasis. We enjoyed great weather and minimal traffic on the trails.

Very beautiful place to stay and we will be back. Mainly tent campers here with a few very small RVs; our setup was the largest with a 2021 Grand Design 2500RL (29 ft) and a Ram 2500 (20ft). We were in site B23. Our slide out is on the drivers side and it definitely took skill and time to get our RV as close to the rocks as possible in order for us to fit in our spot. B23 definitely appears to be one of the largest spots, so if you have a larger setup than ours, this campground is not going to work for you. Potable water to fill your RV is at the dump station, there are no hook ups for water at the sites. There are two potable water taps in the campgrounds, but you cant hook a hose up to them.

Nice open campground. The asphalt pad in our space was covered with about 2 inches of sand. I tried to broom it off, but I needed a shovel!!! No sign of any rangers. One camper had is Pitbull off leash while kids bicycled by. That dog attacked a small dog that same morning and only survived when the owner held it up in the air on a leash!!!!

Great camp site, a little far away from the landmarks of Joshua Tree though.
