Clean, spacious campground. Needed reservations, which we had to drive almost out of the park to get - no wifi. This campground had water, which orhers didnt. Very nice!

The campground is beautiful. Only issue is that they allow people to run their generators all day long. The noise two sites up was horrible for 12 hours straight. Ridiculous

Campsites are awfully close together and close to the road, but they are otherwise perfectly functional. Definitely a bit pricey for what you get compared to a lot of others, but it is a great location.

There is plenty of space between each bay, with good facilities and an unbelievable setting.

Im an extremely dissatisfied Recreation.gov customer. I decided to book Cottonwood campground for the following night. I made the booking a few minutes before midnight. Immediately after I booked I noticed it had booked for the date of booking, not the next night. There were only 5 minutes left on that date and I was many hours away!!! I immediately tried to change the booking date to the correct date. Not only did Recreation.gov want to charge me a $10 change fee, it would not give me any credit for what was already charged. So it would have cost me not only a regular night fee but an additional $10. What a colossal rip off. I just lost the original fee and decided to end my losses there instead of trying to correct my mistakes. I am dissatisfied because there is a change reservation option that only allows you to pay way more than just doing a new booking. What an absurdity!!!! Dont give the change reservation option if one will not only be able to change it by paying Much More than if booked as a new date.

The mine site is interesting, and take the trail further ~25 yards beyond for a great view of the Salton Sea. If you are going to the mine from the campground, the trail will fork left and right without a signpost. Take the right trail.

Great location and scenery with hiking right from the campground. But... parking area not nearly flat enough even for a small RV. The bathroom has no lights, no hand dryer, no soap. And absolutely no cell reception on Verizon.

I absolutely loved this spot! It was on the far end of the campground and felt like having a whole campsite to myself, complete with a trail to explore. I camped here a few months ago and had an amazing experience. It was a bit far from the bathrooms, but that didnt bother me at all!

Good , but my camp spot was the only one available shown on the reservation page. To close to trail entrance . B13

Campground was clean and beautiful. We didnt choose a flat spot for the sprinter camper. Seems strange that the people at the visitor center, who were friendly and helpful could neither help us get reservations nor was there internet to make a reservation in the visitor center. You have to drive > 5 mi to get a signal to reserve a sight you cant see. Makes no sense. I would have gladly paid extra for internet use or help with the reservation. The dump site was a blessing!

This was my second time staying at the Cottonwood campground. The first time in 2021 was perfect. This time, the men's restroom was in a really rough state. Either an animal went to the bathroom behind the toilet or somebody missed badly. Other than that, no complaints.

My kids and I are going every year. Fantastic experience. So much to discover within the parks and roadtrips outside the parks within reach: Box Canyon, Salton Sea, Anza Borrego, Julian etc.

Many empty campsites but no one at the visitor center can help with reservations. No internet; was advised to make a 20 mile trip to get internet and access reservation.gov. for information. This is completely ridiculous. At least put a sign ten miles down the road stating how useless you are at the visitor center.

Nice campsite, adjacent to trail that leads to mastadon peak. Site was on the perimeter so quieter than some of the others. Enjoyed the grounds. Easy access to the bathrooms and trash bins

My brother and I stayed on a Thursday and Friday night taking pictures of the night sky. On these two nights, people were very respectful and there were no issues that way. Campsite was very clean. So were the bathrooms. 10 out of 10.

B13 is a nice site and seemed slightly more private than the others. Keep in mind that a trailhead is right next to the site, so people pass by to start their hikes. Flush toilets and water were handy to have. The scenery is nice but not as dramatic as Indian Cover and Jumbo Rocks. I was there mid-week in Oct and practically had the campground to myself (unlike Jumbo Rocks and Indian Cove, which tend to be busier). I was visited by three different giant crab spiders, so keep your tents zipped up :) Overall great site and a great stay.

Campground isolated and further away from some of the main exhibits in the park...plan accordingly. Site was clean, and while some site are more level than others, mine on the outskirts of the B loop was very un-level. Using leveling blocks made it somewhat bearable but had to re-maneuver the RV to get the sink/shower to drain correctly after the morning routine.

We had the best time! Site #13 had an amazing view of the mountains and desert. It is in the back corner so it felt like we were more alone, which is what we wanted. The fire pits were wonderful! It was so nice to have dinner by the fire. We did an awesome star gazing tour at the campground!I loved that it had a garbage for our fuel canisters.

We made a same day reservation on the Recreation.gov site, which was super easy. We went to the dump station since we had just spent two nights in our small Roadtrek camper in Anza Borrego. The Cottonwood campsite was almost empty. We hiked the trails to the south both days. We were super impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness and layout of both the campsite and the trails. We will be returning in the Spring.
