Nice spot on the mastadon peak trailhead or Lost Palms Oasis for the more fit. Reasonably separated sites. Water, bathrooms but no showers. Lots of families both times here.

Beautiful area, with clean bathrooms and drinking water. Some sites need to be leveled more, so look for that. Nice hike to the oasis.

I would have liked a better picture of the site. I didnt realize it was a wide spot on the road. If so, I would have picked a site going the other direction so that we could have used the slide out. Otherwise good.

Pleasant location. Campground was full on the weekend we camped. In the Mojave Desert, vegetation is insufficient to provide separation from neighbors. Parking for some of the sites (ours) are on the edge of the camp road.

The campsite is more cramped than I'm used to (when camping in the forest.) Since it's pretty close quartets, I found it got a little noisy at night, and the scenery helps noise travel. The sites are various sizes, so make sure you are checking the allowable equipment since some sites only accommodate small tents. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked, which is important to me.There was a nice hike very close to the Campground that was beautiful. At night you can build a fire with the provided fire pit, but bring your own wood. There is no store to purchase wood nearby.Spigots of potable water sprinkled throughout, which is great.

This is not what a campground in a National Park should be. We camped here for 4 nights in April 2022. As beautiful a location as this is, our stay was spoiled by nights of noise and annoyance, courtesy of fellow campers and the NPS. One night a large troop of Scouts arrived with a truckload of supplies, shouting at each other over how to park and unload the truck during quiet hours at 10:30 pm. Worse, they were not camping at a group campsite. Every night we listened to loud parties, dogs barking and babies crying after 10pm to past midnight. One night we had another large group at a regular campsite, which they lit up with bright hanging LED patio lights, lighting up everyone else's campsite in the area too. At a dark sky park! The final straw was the National Park Service's contractor dumpster truck running around emptying the dozen steel dumpsters at 6:00 AM on a Saturday morning. Naturally this woke every dog and baby in the campground. I complained to the Visitor Center Staff about the dumpster. Turns out they complain about it too, but say management has done nothing about it They begged me to fill out a comment/complaint form, which I did. All this in a park which is supposed to be one of the quietest. My opinion of NPS management here is that it's a mess. Starting with Recreation.gov because at this campground you must reserve a site without knowing what you are going to get. Most importantly without knowing whether your camper will fit the site, or whether your slide will be out in the road. Our site turned out to be a narrow tilted asphalt pull off lined with vehicle damaging boulders, more of a tilted parallel parking spot, barely wide enough for our 18 foot long (no slides) travel trailer and pickup. I used all of my dozen leveling blocks under the right side trailer tires, and was still tilted. We saw no rangers in the evenings on patrol. None. NO I WOULD NOT STAY HERE AGAIN!

Great campground! The photos make it look pretty barren, but it was great! Definitely no shade, so tough during the day, but evenings and mornings were lovely with the surrounding terrain. There is a trail to the oasis, but hard to find from the campground. Found it once I walked it back from the oasis parking lot. Bathrooms were impeccably clean. And loved that there were limits on the hours generators could be in use.

This campground and restrooms were very clean. The fire rings were lower so it made for nice sitting around the fire. The water spouts however are in awkward locations, one of them was located right in the middle of 2 campsites in a smaller shared sharing a space and their tents were right next to it. The other was right in front of another campsite which we did not see until they left because it was blocked by their trailer parked in front of it. Other than that though, a great campground

People moved to a party site and partied until 2 am. Not much sleep here. Supervision was great during daylight, but in the evening hours things fell apart.
