Everything was perfect! The site accommodated my van and there was plenty of room in the site to setup our supplies and enjoy the beautiful weather and evening sky! The best part was the Camp host, Don and his wife Vanda. They were super informative, unbelievably helpful and they went out of their way to help us!

Site was wonderful, especially for those with some type of camper. There is a water hookup and dump station near this campsite. Overall, public spaces were maintainined; I found the bathrooms to be clean the whole time. Despite it being somewhat full, it was still a quiet area. There was easy access to a good number of trails, however, if you want the Joshua Trees, you will need to stay at the northern side of the park. Otherwise, awesome experience. Will stay here again.

I have been car camping at Cottonwood several years now and every year has been excellent. One thing different this yearI will comment on is that due the lack of rainfall this winter/spring it is very dry, almost no wildflowers anywhere. The campsitewas clean as usual a great experience.

Terrific campground with water and clean restroom. No cell phon signal at all (AT&T) but its great reason to disconnect from normal life. Brilliant night sky on moonless nights with the Milky Way visible overhead.

ProsVery well maintained and well designed campground. Easy to locate even when arriving in the dark. Nice big stone picnic table and fire pit for each site. Paved parking spots so you aint have to drive off road to your site. Beautiful view of the stars. ConsSouth end of the park so was perfect for one night, but wouldnt be as good for multiple nights considering so much of the park is 30-60min drive from campsite. Sites are not super private (close to road/other sites/not a lot of foliage). Can be noisy if you have jerks around.

The campground was easy to find and tucked on the edge of the boulder field with easy access to trails. Clean and well maintained.

Great, quiet campground in June 2022. I stayed here despite the dangerous heat ( which I am not recommending!!). So quiet and beautiful. The campsites are visible to all the other campsites and there is not enough shade but thats Joshua Tree and too much building etc would wreck the environment. There are also paths all over the campground so you can avoid wrecking the fauna and avoid cactuses, scorpions etc but it looks well kept not man made. Flush toilets! Point your point view away from sun for stars, point north to south for breeze during the daytime (at least onJune 21, 2022). When sitting for awhile I attracted lots of tiny, non biting flies. But I didnt care!

Great park staff. Nice quiet campsite with very little traffic. This campground is great for day trips to the major locations both inside and outside the park.

Great campground but far from most park activities. The bathrooms were extremely clean but not lit at all at night. If you plan to use the bathroom after dark make sure to have a light! We spent 3 nights, really enjoyed the Mastadon peak hike but there isn't much else to do at this campground. We drove into the park for more hiking the next day. 30 minute drive to the Cholla Cactus Garden and 45 min to boulder hiking.

Great location. No cell service (which I liked). Real close to beautiful Cottonwood Springs trail. However, snoring neighbors and neighbors playing music (seriously who does this out in beautiful quiet nature?) makes this a good but not great campsite.

This is a great campground. Bring a shade shelter , stake it down well in case the wind picks up. Quiet at night, great views to the east and south-east.

Cottonwood is a very nice place to camp and enjoy the many sights of Joshua Tree National Park. The facilities are kept clean and orderly, restroom are tended to regularly. While there is no shower facilities or clean up areas, the area is worth spending time and exploring. I would come back, bring lots of fire wood and enjoy a cozy night gazing at the skies.

Cottonwood campground is in very south end of park and takes an hour to get up to 29 Palms area, so plan accordingly.
