Great location for Mastodon Peak hike, palm oasis, and the visitor center. Also the access to water and dump station is great. The sites are close together.

Nice clean campground with picnic tables and fire rings. Love the access to the Matador and Cotton Springs trails and how close we were to the visitor's center. Shout out to Ranger Ashley for the great talk at the auditorium one night! The drive to the rest of the park (and to see the Joshua Trees as there are none at this camp area) was easy and especially wonderful if you downloaded (BEFORE you get to park as there is NO cell service) the NPS Joshua Tree self-guided tours from the NPS app.

Joshua Tree National Park is amazing! The Joshua Trees are unique, the trails well kept, the roads beautiful, and the expansive nature of the park gives many places to hike and picnic over a few day period! Even the drive through the park is beautiful and the scenery unique! I highly recommend the park!I was disappointed in my experience of Cottonwood campground though, due to the disrespect of my neighbors there, and the lack of a campground host to whom I could report issues during quiet hours. Our neighbors were loud when they arrived late at night, had their music playing from their parked car in the morning (we could hear the bass all the way at our campsite at 6:15am), and another neighbor had a bright lantern on at their site until about Midnight, which made it hard to see the stars in that direction. I do not recommend staying at this campsite near the holidays.

Online booking was very convenient and allowed me to book campsites in advance. The campsite was excellent and the availability of water was essential as we were cycling through the park. We hiked one of the local trails and attended the evening Interpretive program. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay.

Not recommended for RVs over 20ft. We dont understand why the designers of this RV campground made the spot so narrow that its almost impossible for larger RVs to get in. Plus they placed nasty boulders at the corners of the spots as if they hate RV owners and hope that they damage their vehicles when trying to park them. We needed about 1/2 to get into our spot, moving forward and backwards multiple times while my wife was standing outside with a flashlight watching the boulders. Many RVs even stick out onto the road, not easy to get around them. There is so much space in the desert but the RV park design resembled a HOA community.

Best place to camp in Joshua Tree. Stargazing at night is beautiful, facilitates are clean and garbage is taken out regularly. Close to the ranger/visitor station and beautiful hiking to Mastodon Peak. There are no places to purchase supplies nearby, best is to just stock up at the local Walmart before heading in. Would stay here again if the opportunity arises.

Nice basic campground. They should allow people without reservations to take a spot that isn't reserved, as there were many vacant spots each night

This is, of course, dry camping. We usually camp in Joshua Tree in April but needed to come early March. It was cold and windy. Very windy. The campground is clean and the restroom are also clean. The campsites are nicely spread out. Sunsets are beautiful! Negative is that there is NO cell service.

Quiet campground, clean facilities. This is dry camping, no hookups. A good starting place for hikes in the southern half of the park.

Had a great experience here. Bathrooms were well kept, although they didn’t have lights in them so make sure to bring a head lamp after the sun goes down. Rangers are super friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be coming back.

We went over Memorial Day weekend and there were lots of family with kids. The restrooms were very clean and the park was beautiful. We traveled through the entire park and this campground was a very good location on the far end. We plan to return, it was a great time.

The area was as described, the campground clean and well maintained, however it is very far the the main area of the park and you won't see a Joshua Tree until you pass the Cholla Garden.
If you enter through the west entrance you will see them before you even enter the park. We came primarily to hike and enjoy the night sky, so it wasn't a big deal for my partner and I.
We've already mapped out our next adventure to Joshua Tree NP.

We tried to cancel our reservations online on Recreation.gov many times, but kept getting an error and it would not let us cancel. I don't care that much about the money as I will just consider the unrefunded amount as a donation. But the fact the no one else could use this site is not acceptable...
