Beautiful place! Wide expansive views in all directions and pretty dark sky for stargazing.Bathrooms are very clean and really appreciated the RV dump station. Will be back here a lot!

Absolutely lovely campground. It was clean and safe. My only issue is that the campground is dog-friendly, yet none of the connecting trails are.

Only spent one night at the campsite and it was a perfect location, close enough to the restroom and well taken care of camp ground.

Great spot with spacious spaces in good proximity to the restroom. Definitely a long drive from the main part of the park but it had some great trails nearby.

Great campground at southern end of the park. Spot 23A was clean, spaced out from neighbors, near the bathrooms and water, and everyone was quiet and respectful even though there was no camp host present. Would stay here again!

This campground did the job, and I'm glad it had running water, as most of the sites in Joshua Tree other than Black Rock and this one do not, but it felt very bare bones in the sense that there was no soap in the bathroom, no counter space for toiletries, and not even lights. If you go in the dark you must bring a headlamp or a flashlight of some sort or else you'll be doing it all in the dark!

NPS,is not keeping up with the changes in camping, over the last 5 years there has been a 62% increase in RV sales. The sites at Cottonwood barely fit average length RV, and could easily modify to accept most. The sites are too restricted I.e. with the large stones and makes parking difficult. Or dangerous if you need an example of good sites look at the Valley of Fire, Atari Rock campground.

Clean bathrooms with flush toilets; mostly quiet campground (not silent, but not loud by any means); campground host was kind - we had a small issue and she worked through it with us (was totally our mistake); great ranger program, nice sites, far enough from main road. Remember - no lights in bathrooms, no firewood for sale, no water in the park, so plan ahead. The hike from Cottonwood campground to Mastodon Peak has loose sand and not well marked, so take extra water (4+ miles from campground, but only about 2 miles from the trailhead where you can park).Def check out the ranger programs.

Sites not large enough for the 40 foot motor homes we reserved. No one at visitor center could or would help only telling me I needed to cancel after the planned visit. That made no sense to either of us but she insisted th is the way it works. I tried to cance and got a notice of tefund but no credit to my card. I have before with recreation.gov without problems. No phone, no internet, no host, no ranger, no held anywhere

The good is that the camp host was great and the location was very secluded. The bad, The sites are in need of maintenance and are right on the road so extending the slide outs are a problem. Cell service is nonexistent so dont have an emergency. Cottonwood has the potential to be a great camping location with full hookups but sadly lacks the development.

The campground is pretty nice, and the facilities are good, however the site we had was so un-level that even using all the levelling blocks we had and one we borrowed from some neighbours we still couldn't get even close to level in our motorhome. Site A23 (and all the sites along that strip) should not really be marketed as suitable for RVs as they are so steep and uneven that it's just not practical.

Loved the park and every other campground - cottonwood was the most expensive and the worst one!

The campsite was fine, but, having a 25’ class c RV, it was difficult getting level. We used all the leveling blocks we had and still were short of level and tried from one end of the site to the other. As a tent site or if you have leveling jacks your good. The park was peaceful, the site was separated enough, the star’s were great and the hiking trail from the park loop was good. The campground is a good 30 minutes south of jumbo rocks, skull rock and other campgrounds.

Ridiculous to call this a campground with spots slightly wader than the tiny road. Couldn’t possibly fit into any of the spots

Paid for two nights and could use none.
