Reservation was for one night only. Clean campground and restrooms. Most back-in sites had adequate space for trailers or tent camping. Pull out sites for longer motorhomes with tow vehicles could use more turn out space to allow vehicle to pull off of roadway. We will return another time for longer stay.

Nice and quiet campground, with a nice trailhead. Access to water and dump station make it perfect for camper vans !Toilets were clean.

We stayed one night at this campground. Our site was clean and had enough room for our RV. Dump station nearby. Great campground.

Was an excellent campsite. There was enough shrubbery around of significant size that the site felt somewhat private even during Easter week with every site packed. The facilities were especially nice and well kept with running water and plenty of space. Would definitely stay here again. It was remote but has excellent access to a few significant and stunning trails.

With so many people around and noise during the day, we were surprised how quiet it was at night. We did get approached by the Park Rangers, some of our campers were out in the "wilderness area", which I appreciated the notification. I do think some signage, like small carsonite signs would be helpful for that purpose. Otherwise, great campground, clean bathrooms, campsites spread out pretty well!

We loved our experience at Cottonwood Campground! The campground and bathrooms were super clean. Better yet, the stars were amazing. You can access the trail to the Lost Palms Oasis from within the campground. So much to do and see in this area.

We first started going to this campground 5-10 years ago; it is fairly well laid out and at that time was off most peoples radar. Sites that we prefer (on the outside of the loop with a view and privacy) were easy to get on first come first serve basis in those times. That has all changed and sites are more difficult to get unless you reserve well in advnce. The layout is still the same with many "outer loop edge sites" that have special views and some privacy, now you just need to reserve as soon as you think you might go there. Loop roads are somewhat narrow and some campers extend their "slide outs" making navigation trickier (this is mentioned in the campsite writeup). On our most recent trip we arrived in the dark and had some difficulty finding our site and then had to "level up" in the dark as our site was sloped from side to side and not very level. It is a great campground and we will continue to go there whenever it fits into our travel plans. Restrooms were clean and the visit was enhanced by great "night sky" views.

The Cottonwood campground was beautiful and so was the weather (last weekend in October). Joshua Tree is an amazing place. Unfortunately, my friend & I left after only one night of a two night reservation. We didn't get much sleep. A very noisy, very large group was behind us and partied until 2:30 in the morning, not counting the screaming baby. Then there was some sort of loud, vibrating bass music coming from somewhere most of the night. Then, early in the morning, just as I was getting to sleep the guy in his new humongous RV parked right next to a tent site (us), started his generator. I don't think he or his wife ever came out of that thing to enjoy the park, just moved around his 4-wheel ATV from one side of the RV to the other a few times, which was another extremely loud disrupting noise. Egad, doesn't anyone ever come to enjoy the quietness of the desert?Sleep deprived as we were we did take a nice hike at the Lost Palms Oasis. We saw the sign that said 4.4 miles but weren't sure whether that was one way or round trip. Nevertheless, it was a beautiful hike. We would recommend this to anyone who enjoys the scenery and different ecosystems of the desert. My friend & I also took a drive along Pinto Basin Rd and stopped at all of the Sites of Interest. We really enjoyed learning more about the desert in this way. I guess I never appreciated how many different landscapes the desert holds. When we left we stopped at Keys View. Wow! That is a sight to behold. Overall, Joshua Tree is an amazing place to discover but the camping experience was less than desirable.

We really enjoyed our stay at Joshua Tree National Park. A big part of it was to come "home" to Cottonwood Campground. It was clean and ready for us when we arrived. We really enjoyed watching the stars at night and even saw some shooting stars. Thanks so much!!

We flew in from Toronto. My family had a great time. Our campground host, Margaret, was great. Park Rangers were very friendly and helpful.

The Ranger talk was nice to have and well lit to it. The bathrooms are clean and acceptable, and nice water spigot. Beautiful sunrise. It was just a really great location and I had a good time.

Booked 2 sites for 2 40 foot motor homes that the sites could not accommodate. This campground is good only for small units. Under 25 feet. The staff was unable to help with the cancelation telling me I needed to waite till after the last night of reservation. She agreed with that made no sense, but that is the way it is. The area has no phone or internet so talking to the reservation service was not possible. Most of the sites are dangerously close to the road with some tight turns and rock obstacles. if your unit is bigger than 25 feet stay in the BLM off I10.

Nice campground, but a bit of a distance from some of the park features. Many of the sites are just narrow pullouts and can be a challenge for slideouts.

Nice dry camping campground. Only down side was we didn’t have enough space to put our slide out.
