Its a good small campground with decent amenities and decent sized campsites. Flush toilets are good but there are no lights which is very inconvenient at night.

Lower elevation, lovely campground in the southern part of the park. Fewer rocks and no Joshua trees, but still a very nice place to stay in the desert. Saw scorpions with a black light out on nighttime nature walks, and the oasis is it is nearby too.

It was a nice place to stay for a night as we were headed out of the southern end of the park. Had a bit of trouble leveling the camper, but there was a water spigot right at the rear of the side. The inside of the loop has sites pretty close to each other. Could hear everything the neighbors were talking about. Heard the coyotes yipping at night.

In the low desert part of the park, so away from the frenetic upper part of the park. Quiet. Surprisingly, the outer camp sites were on the road, and not pulled in.

Beautiful hikes nearby and the scenery around camp was beautiful too.Only complaint is that other campers were loud past quiet hours. Not your fault, unless rangers typically go through camp to enforce quiet.

This campground is well cared for and planned. Plenty of room for plants between the sites and beautiful vistas. Good tables and fire pits at each site. Website for reservations is hard to use and you have to leave the park to get a signal to use it. You cannot stay longer without leaving g the park to get a signal and registering again. Trails near Cottonwood are numerous and easy. Wish the park had elevation gain listed for each trail and a printed map available to carry along. The drive through the park to other features is long and magnificent! I will come again.

Campsite was beautiful, the camp post was informative and friendly. The weather worked out great even though we had to leave a day early because weather was coming in the host gave us all the Deets we needed for a great hike. Kudos to Dave.

Great location for visiting the south end of the park. Close to hiking trails and easy access to I-10 heading both east and west. The park rangers gave an informative presentation at the amphitheater nightly. Water was available, but you need flashlights to use the restroom at night. No power inside them.

Beautiful sunset, beautiful start, and a beautiful sunrise. The neighbors seemed too cold for what they were wearing. Great trip, thanks. One star off only because of light pollution from Indio and 29 Palms - which isn't really in the control of the park, but it's something to assess the campsite off of nonetheless.

Fantastic spot. Visited by coyotes the two nights we were there. Not adjacent to the more popular sites in the park, but the drive across the park isn't an inconvenience.

Cottonwood campgrounds was a good choice for our first visit to Joshua Tree but think we would look for a campsite in the Boulders next time!

Good site away from main area of the park. Clean bathrooms
The campsite was beautiful. Lots of shade, nice view, very large pad as well as a tent pad. The path down to the lake behind the site was great and the trail along the lake was beautiful. I even saw some deer in the evening. The bathrooms/showers definitely need updating. In one facility the women’s shower was out of order and the men’s had no hot water. In the other facility, the men’s shower was out of order and the women’s shower had no hot water.

Clean bathrooms near by, beautiful view of the stars at night. Water is accessible near by the camp site.
Camp hosts had to be moved offsite so there was no enforcement of RV generators running at all hours. Not hosts fault. Generator hours need to be boldly posted or all those seeking natural sounds will suffer at ALL hours of the day. All the rest good except with Covid I arrived and one of my two reserved sites was occupied. The people graciously moved promptly.

Mobile Data Speed Map
#123
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
