Great host at this campground. The campground is about 35 min. from the main part of Joshua Tree where most of the hikes are.

Wish we would have known ahead of time that you have to travel further north in park to find Joshua Trees. Still great camping with wonderful hiking & views.

Excellent location. Clean restrooms. Sites are well designed. Ranger talk in amphitheater was very good. Thank you!

The park is beautiful, but the campsites are very small and close together. No privacy. My site was next to the dumpster and the noise from the truck scared my pets. Sadly I was not allowed to walk my dogs on a path, so had to use the road and cars sped by without slowing down.

We stayed for one night on a drive from Tucson to LA. It was absolutely perfect. The campground was quiet and the views were breathtaking. The bathrooms were clean as well. We will definitely stay again!

Nice campground! We stayed in a tent cabin which was quite nice. We had both a fan and small heater. The weather was cold so the tent was a plus. There is a small store and the campground made it convenient to explore the park. Our tent had 30 amp electric so that was a major plus as well as WiFi. The bed wasnt great but better than a camp mattress. We enjoyed the Adirondack chais to sit in after dark. The restrooms werent super close but the showers near the office were wonderful- nice hot water. I would stay here again - we recommend if you want to hike the park.

Beautiful days and stunning clear dark skies at Cottonwood Campground laid the foundation for an epic weekend getaway for hiking, bouldering, and stargazing. Clean sites, clean restrooms, and plenty of running water.

Nice campground and the bathrooms were very clean. Only problem is our campsite (A8) had direct line of site to the mens urinal, and you could hear everything going on in the mens roomincluding explosive diarrhea (Im not joking). We tried to close the door (at night when it was cooler), but everyone kept propping it open. The mens restroom in loop A needs at least more visual privacy.

First time at this site, it was nice to have water n flushing toilets. It is a bit far from the rest of jt, but still nice
@AndreaK7879605 · Camped on Feb 26, 2022 at Campsite #A8
A8 is right next to the toilets, so there was a lot of traffic going through my camp and I could hear the toilet whenever someone flushed it.Running water, flush toilets, gorgeous sky, I'd try to pick a different camp next time, but it wasn't a complete deal breaker to be close to the bathroom.

Located at the south end of the park, Cottonwood is quiet and mostly filled with RVs (I was one of only two tent campers). The only view afforded is the ridge line of the surrounding mountains, as it seems to be located in a bowl, without much else to see from ones campsite. The mens bathroom was clean yet, not that I understood why, the door was propped open throughout my 3-day stay, affording views of the backs of men urinating to any passerby with a slightly roving eye.An okay spot to stay when the rest of campgrounds are full, but not one I would select based on its own merits.

Only a 2-night stay but very nice. Restrooms were clean and doors left open which allays some fears of covid. In the 30-40s at night so cold. Visit consisted mostly of driving through the park because friends joined us who had never been there. Hiked to Barker Dam and that was nice. Days were in the 60-70s. Would have liked to have driven through Jumbo Rocks CG because wed stayed there 4 years ago but only registered campers could get in, which I understand. Will try to do more hiking next time.

I liked the campground. The location is beautiful. We had A08; it was a little hard to figure out where to put the tent, it was pretty close to the restrooms. We figured it out and had a nice time.

Other campers were quiet and respectful at this site. Clean flush restrooms and available water was helpful. No cell service, which was also a nice break

I had some questions prior to coming and the staff were so helpful and responsive. I really appreciated that!
The area was gorgeous. This is the darkest part of the park so great for star gazing. No lights inside the bathroom so make sure to bring a lantern.

Nice campground. Bathrooms were kept clean and having a bathroom and running water was great (for this old backpacker).
Only hitch, we booked over a weekend, and someone else booked the same saturday night.
Heard someone else talk about the same thing happening.
