Beautiful view of the night sky. This campground has water! No firewood for sale on site so pack it in. Nicely close to the visitor center and good hiking. It's really nice to be in a quieter area of the park!

The camp site was great. A coyote stole my dogs bag with their food in it and some other dog item.

The star gazing was top tier. All the roads leading to the site were paved, so any car could get there. The only slight problem with this particular spot was that since it was so close to the bathroom, you get a lot of foot traffic during the night, and it can wake you up. No cell service but a lot of people had Starlink.

Great views, camping area was clean, nice walking trail down to a small oasis, bathrooms were clean and fellow campers were reasonably quiet.

My wife and I both enjoyed the campground. It had potable water and flush toilets. It was within walking distance (1/2 mile) to the trailhead for the Lost Oasis trail and a couple of others. There were a couple RVs that ran their generators, but all observed the quiet hours. The campsites were spread out pretty well.

Clean facilities, pretty views and very few people camping that weekend.

This camp site was a good spot to camp. Restroom was nice and clean. The camp site itself was very nice. I'll be back here soon, and might make this place my good too camp site when I need a break.

It would be really nice if the campground host sold campfire wood but unfortunately we were told that Joshua Tree NP does not sell any wood in the park. Also, it would extra nice if Joshua Tree NP would invest in a shower facility for this campground since it seems to be very popular place to camp. Lastly, every site is unreasonably close together given the fact that there is a vast area of flat desert surrounding this campground. It is not like the terrain itself has restricted the spacing between sites.

We wish we could've stayed longer. Everything about the park was great including our campsite and the facilities. Joshua tree for someone from the Northwest is like a whole different world and I can't wait to come back.

Great campsite but unfortunately we found out the Joshua trees are only found further north

sites and bathrooms were clean. Great location to trails. Will note the bathroom has no lights but other than that it was a great site for a great trip!

Everything was fine in terms of the facilities. However, there was a booking issue with site A06. Another party also had a reservation for that site on November 11, 2022. We were able to share the site so it all worked out, but it could have been a bigger problem.

Cottonwood is a very small and intimate campground. The sites themselves are fairly small, most would be a stretch to put up more than the maximum 3 tents. There is no privacy between you and your neighbors. However this wasnt a problem for us during this trip, all of the other campers were excellent neighbors. The bathrooms are clean (only two per loop) and the potable water spigots are strategically placed around the site. There is no shade, so be sure to bring your own.

Sites were close together but still felt quiet. A short trail from the campground goes to the springs.

Wonderful colors on the horizon just after sunset, and starry skies at night. Woke up one morning to several quail outside my tent, and a roadrunner wandered through my site a few times. Soil/sand was amenable to tent stakes. Potable water spigots available, and clean bathrooms but no indoor lighting, so bring a headlamp or lantern. No cell reception (with Google Fi), and as of December 2021, the Cottonwood Visitor Center was not offering public wifi. I was able to get reception at the Bajada nature walk, though. You can easily walk to Cottonwood Spring from the campground instead of driving to its parking area. And if you're up for a little rock scrambling, get yourself to the top of Mastodon Peak for some great views!

gives an excuse to explore a very unique and less popular portion of Joshua Tree. campground is also a little less crowded than some of the others and wonderfully off the grid.
