Very nice campground with a beautiful view of the sunset and stars. It is a little far from the main area of Joshua Tree (40 minutes), but perfect for our weekend getaway!

Great site for short hikes.About 25 mile drive to see Joshua trees at Arch Rock.Rangers were knowledgable.

There is no cell reception (T-Mobile nor Verizon) at the campground but there are potable water spigots and flushing toilets at each loop. The sites are close together so hopefully you don't have a noisy neighbor. Like other comments, you may experience ppl who come to the campground to drink and party. There was one group that I could hear all night, They showed up late on a Saturday evening, grabbed an unoccupied site, drank and left the next morning. There are hiking trails accessible directly from the campground. The Mastodon Peak and Mastodon Mine are relatively easy to get to. The Lost Palm Oasis takes a bit more effort especially on a hot sunny day. Be sure you know your abilities before you take that trek.

Excellent campground! The bathrooms are clean and easily accessible, the sites are spacious and close to wildlife and hikes, and the visitor center employees were friendly and helpful.

Great campground that is away from the attractions that are more within the park. Quiet place to see the starts

This is a very tight campground and this site (A02) in particular has very little usable space. The amenities at the campground otherwise are as advertised.

Great place. There is water at the dump station. RVlife and many reviews seem to be confused about it.

Cottonwood was great except for the size of the site with take some work to get into but all in all it was worth it. The weather was not the best but that as nothing to do with the campground were the facilities are good and clean.

I enjoyed my stay very much, the location is beautifully located with lovely desert all around. I took log walks out into the desert enjoying the plants, rocks and solitude. I would have liked one of the campsites a bit farther out but selection was limited due to the holidays.

A great campground, close to Interstate 10. I use Cottonwood as a stop to and from LA to Texas

Very clean and easy place to camp. There is water with flushing bathrooms and sinks. Totally felt spoiled here when it comes to camping. It was a quiet and peaceful place. Would definitely go again.

Very quiet at night, lovely hike or two. We often use this as a stayover campground when going to AZ. But it is worthy of a couple of nights at least. It is a long way to the climbing walls on the other side of Joshua Tree, so maybe that is why it is such a lovely place.

Beautiful park. Booked online, so we had no exchanges with staff, so we have no comment.

Sites are nicely spaced. The Lost Palms Oasis hike is wonderful, and really well marked. There was a good vibe at the Visitor Center.

Bring a night light (handheld or headlamp) when you go to the restroom when it's dark. Personally, after all these years, I'm disappointed in Park management. There must be a reason....in this age of solar and battery technology it can't be that expensive to provide a little more safety and citizen assistance.O yeah!!! In the busy season plan on waits at the restroom in the mornings, (Sometimes.) In my experience there are not enough restrooms for campers considering the numbers. I've camped in JT for at least 70 years but my climbing days are over but not my visits. Actually the NPS does an outstanding job. Many thanks to NPS for helping preserve this beautiful area.

The campground is very nice and well mantained and people staying there were very pleasant. We also ran into a camp ranger and he was quite helpful and accommodating. The only inconvenience could be that the campground is quite far from main attraction points/activities within the national park so, depending on what you want to do, it can be a bit complex/you'd need more planning.

We arrived at the campground around 9:30PM to find an RV already in our reserved campsite. Not knowing for sure what was going on and not being able to find or call (lack of cell service) a Ranger, we spent our first night parking in the restroom parking lot. That was not the most enjoyable experience. We did find a Ranger the next morning and they did get the non reserved squatters to move.

Beautiful night sky! Clean bathrooms.. great staff! The sites are a bit small for RVs but we fit into a back-in spot A2 our trailer is 23 ft. Quiet spot with plenty to do and see! Used this campground to base camp and see the southern part of Joshua trees which is much less crowded and still beautiful! Appreciated the RV dump station and fresh water spot.
