Sugar Bottom Campground in Johnson County is located 31 min north of Iowa City, IA with an elevation of 689 feet. There are a total of 216 campsites including 14 tent-only sites. The campground is normally open from the beginning of May to the end of September. 202 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 36 and 89 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. 24 sites have electric and water hookups. 178 sites have electric hookups. Fees range from $14.00 to $200.00. Some amenities include shower, dump station, playground, boat ramp, amphitheater, flush toilets. Activities include biking, fishing, hiking trails.

The spot I had had an excellent view. The driveway and Rv pad was level concrete in very good shape. The camp host came and checked to make sure that it was clean and she was very friendly. I got in some great hiking. The only problem was the showers and toilets werent clean and seemed very outdated

This was our first camping trip with our new travel trailer. The staff at the campground was very helpful. The spot we had was clean and easy to get into. It was close to the lake and all the neighbors were very nice. The bathrooms were clean and always accessible. We will definitely be back!

We stayed at SugarBottom COE this week ( Solon IA). It is the nicest one we have stayed at! The guy at the check in office was super welcoming and shared info and a booklet for the area and trails. Its a big park but has been pretty empty during the week-it is booked Friday thru Sunday or we would extend our stay. The bathroom/showers are old but clean every time I went in. It is a very well kept park-kudos to the staff!

This is a beautiful campground! It is a heavily wooded area on the Iowa River. I was only there for one night, so I cannot speak to the hiking trails in the park. The campground host was friendly and helpful; the park is clean and well-maintained. The view of the river and the sunset was amazing.

Always clean! Great views! Cell phone coverage is weak so if that is important, find a location within the park where the cell towers can be reached. Some spots are not level (but most are) so read reviews on this!

We always love camping at Sugar Bottom! Beautiful campground with plenty to do right there but so much more in the nearby towns. Love the multiple playgrounds, beach, and bike trails. They also have great ranger programming!
