West Overlook Campground in Johnson County is located just 15 min north of Iowa City, IA with an elevation of 764 feet. There are a total of 89 campsites. The campground is normally open from the beginning of May to mid October. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 32 and 73 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. 19 sites have electric and water hookups. 70 sites have electric hookups. Prices start at $20.00 per night. Some amenities include shower, dump station, boat ramp, swimming, flush toilets. Activities include biking, boating, fishing, hiking trails, floating sports.

The electrical outlets in some areas need replacing. In particular, the outlets at W84 and W83 are damaged, frame bent and should clearly be replaced.Water should be added to the rest of West Overlook sites that do not yet have it.Personnel have been great.Really enjoy camping there but electrical outlets scare us.

I love this campground. Always clean, sites arent to close, level spots are easy to get set up in.

a superb campground, large clean sites with good spacing. Excellent shower and bathroom facilities. Close to town with many hiking/biking paths.

Love camping at West Overlook. There is direct access to the water and you can also walk to Linder Point where you can get on hiking trails. The only negative is that the showers must have some sort of water filter that makes the flow VERY weak, more like a dribble.

All Army Corps of Engineers campgrounds I have stayed in have been very nice and quite reasonable. Highly recommended.

Beautiful fall weekend camping at site W74. Easy walk to playgrounds and beach. Campsite level and spacious. Enjoyed the fossil gorge.

The loop we were in only has 30 amp electric and there is not a water hydrant nearby. This loop has the most beautiful views of the lake and needs to be updated!!

Beautiful campground next to a man made lake. Problem was that we booked a site (WO4) that claimed the driveway was 50' long when it clearly wasn't. When the driveway is at less than a 90 degree angle then one side of the drive is longer than the other. Maybe they were measuring the longer side but it still didn't look nearly to be 50'. Another site was hemmed in by trees making it impossible to maneuver a RV into. Of course you won't learn any of this until you arrive.Luckily, there were other sites available that we were able to fit into. Do be aware that there is only one dump sites (can fit 2 rigs at once) for the entire area. Hate to be waiting in line at the end of a holiday weekend.

Beautiful, well kept landscape. Spacious, flat, grassy sites with table and fire ring. Clean individual, shower bathroom facilities, including 2 handicap accessible. Lake access for fishing, beach for swimming. Wonderful park!

Overall, a good experience. Friendly hosts and very quiet in the evening. If you enjoy a dark sky in the evening don't stay in the sites near the shower building. The numerous lights on the outside of the shower building are extremely bright.

This was our 5th time at West Overlook campgrounds of Coralville Lake. We had warmer than usual September weather. This allowed for stary moon light nights over this beautiful area. Campgrounds were full as they should be for this time of year!
