I LOVE this place! BUT this campground needs to publish a Site Map on the reservation website!!! Not just photos of the campsites. The campsite I had reserved , unbeknownst to me, was a "walk-in" site. There is NO mention of this important detail on the reservation website. I never would have reserved site #21 if I had that info ahead of time. It was a three minute walk on dirt trail, slightly uphill just to get there. They provide wheelbarrows, but it would have easily taken me 8 trips to get all my gear up there (I was a solo camper with lots of stuff) . So I didn't camp there. Gave up my spot and went down to East Fork campground instead, where there are several FCFS sites, and all of them have adjacent parking for your vehicle.

Very nice and welcoming campground. A bit of a hike to the tent-only area but worth it as it is isolated. So you can't tent camp next to your car. They provide wheelbarrows to cart your stuff but count on making several trips. Extremely nice camp hosts!! Bears in the area - we heard one splash across the creek at about 4:30am and he definitely checked out our campsite for food.

Stayed at site 21, and appreciated the privacy from other campers. But if I had to stay here again, I'd choose site 20. You still get a bit of privacy, but a much closer walk to the car. Wheel barrels help, but if you're like me and you store everything valuable in your car, this can make for lots of walking back and forth.
I loved the area, and took advantage of hiking from campsite up to Mosquito Flats and the lakes beyond. Found some sweet secret trout hideouts in the Rock Creek on the way and went back to fly fish. Also, mountain biked up to Sand Canyon Trail, then up the Lower Rock Creek Trail, and (the worst part) back up the 9 miles of paved road to the campsite. But a great workout.
Had a couple early morning visits from a large black bear, so be "bear aware" and use the lock boxes!
