Great campground!! Our campsite gave us pretty decent privacy and was near the creek which was nice. The roads within the campground are a bit rough so drive carefully. There are only vault toilets but they were clean and well maintained! Definitely would come back again some day.

The campground was clean, well maintained and beautifully scenic. Also, the manager at the campground was very kind and helpful. Overall we had an outstanding experience!

Beautiful campground. Tent pads are on the smaller side on many sites. Campground is on a stream. One tent only on this site. Pit toilets were kept clean. Big bear boxes. The North Fork trail to the lakes is spectacular. It is an altitude hike.

Visited this campground last weekend and had a great time! We were at site 27 which was a great size with a lot of privacy and space for two cars. Site 27 had enough space for a huge 8 person tent that my sister brought for her, her husband and two dogs, as well as my own 4 person tent for myself and my wife. All tents are large, car camping style tents. We were close to the restrooms and also close to the entrance & camp host. There was a good amount of vegetation separating us and the only other site we were adjacent to so it was great! Really no negatives I can think of.For the campground in general...PROS: - very beautiful and remote. you definitely feel like you're in nature despite having other campers near you- pit toilets were very clean with the cleaning schedule posted inside for everyone to see. It seemed like the restroom was cleaned every one or two days.- picnic table, fire ring, and huge food lockers at each site- firewood sold on site (bring cash!)- beautiful creek runs right up against the campgrounds. good for fishing and filtering water- SO close to north fork big pine trailhead. SO convenient to hike to Big Pine Lakes for a day hikeCONS:- no potable water- no water period, not even for washing hands- no showersTOSS UP:- a decent 10 mile drive down mountain roads to get to town. Good in the sense that you're not very close to civilization, but bad in that you're not going to be able to get to services very quickly.Overall, I would rate my experience here very highly, I would say 8 or 9 out of 10, and I wish we stayed longer. I really have no complaints, but my wife didn't like the vault toilets because she thought that they smelled. We also left one night early since a storm was coming and we didn't want to be stuck on the mountain in the middle of a storm.

Stay at Campground #27. This space was one of the bigger space with lots of shade and next to the creek. We were able to set up one 4-person size tent, two 2-person size tents, and a large canopy over the picnic table. This space also can fit 2 cars stack front to back. The campground is clean and has a "bear safe vault" for you to store your food in and a jug of water for the firepit. Bathroom is an outhouse and fairly clean. Cell service is 0 but you can rent Wifi at the Grocery cabin for $5/day, speed is slow. The grocery cabin does sell lots of campground essential like jugs of water, drinks, firewood, tackles, baits, etc. for a pretty good price. They also sell BBQ combo plates on given dates and they have excellent size root beer floats for after the hike!!
We hiked to Lake #2 (the Instagram lake as some may call it) at 3:30am. We left early in the morning to beat the heat. There are signs clearly marked. We took the Upper Trail which is a slow and steady incline as opposed to the Lower Trail which is straight forward trail in the beginning but there a steep uphill climb near where the two trails meet later on. 5.5 miles, 2200+ feet of altitude gain and 5 hours later (8am), we made it to the second lake! One member in our group has asthma but he was a trooper and made it to the top! Took some photos, videos, and I got down on one knee! :). Then we cooked some Mountain House and started our decent back down to tell the rest of the family the great news! The decent down was much faster and took us 3 hours and was back down the campground by noon. We saw deers, bears (very active during dusk and dawn), but no fishes in the pond. We spent another day at the campground barbequing, getting root beer floats, etc. It was definitely cold at night, slept in a hoodie underneath a jacket and slipped into the sleeping bag!!! This lake is beautiful and is comparable to Mirror Lake in Banff! Definitely will go back to hike all the lakes and to the glaciers!
Beautiful grounds with the sound of the creek. Bathrooms extremely well kept.
