We were in camp site number 5. Great place for a Tacoma truck with an RTT. Just enough space to be level and private enough. Camp site was a little small. No biggie for one night before departing for the Whitney summit. If we were going to stay longer it would have been a bit cramped with 2 dogs and 2 people. Creek is great and drowns out any noise. No cell service with ATT/FirstNet

We stayed in campsite 5, it was nice and clean and right next to the river. We were afraid that it would be washed out due to the hurricane storm that came through, but. what damage had been done to the are seemed to have been cleaned up. The pit toilets were clean and cared for and the camp host was a nice guy. Thanks for the place to stay!

It is Paradise, a beautiful and beautiful river runs through the camp, full of fish. The super clean bathrooms, the beautiful, clean, safe, shady camp. it was excellent

Whitney portal is a great campground.
Site 005 is right beside the creek. There is a perfect location for hammock.
It is not a very flat site- the tent area ground, table, fire pit and bear box are neither besides each other nor on the same height. There are a lot of rocks in between and surrounding this site. On that note this is also a very isolate and private site, compares to site 007 and 008.

Clean, quiet, and great campground host. There are some bears getting habituated to humans, which isn’t a good trend, so I hope some efforts are made to dissuade the bears. Overall, a great experience!

What an incredibly special place. The little brook that runs between the campsites is pretty magical. We'll be back for sure.

Nice sites by rushing creek. Good place to acclimate to elevation if you are going higher, e.g. to climb Mt. Whitney, Mt. Russell, or Lone Pine Peak. No cell phone coverage, but if you walk down the road just a bit to the first direct sight-line to the town of Lone Pine, you can get a signal.

Easy access, great map information to find reserved space, complete with pictures of the site. Area was immaculate, makes you think the maid comes in every morning to sweep the campground. Friendly host, in situ for questions and free water and firewood if needed. Spot by creek was charming, like sleeping by the ocean at 8500 feet. A must do, because the trail to LonePine lake is easy and breathtaking at every switchback.
