Incredible campground at the base of Whitney, with stunning views just a short walk away!

Loved the campground . Beautiful setting . Bathrooms were clean . Sites were great . Parking pads could use some work .

Amazing campsite! Lots of large rocks to jump around on, and more secluded. Nice bear lockers, as well as dumpsters close to the campsite. Only reason it isn't 5 stars is due to some bathroom issues (other campers not closing the lid of the toilet, allowing flies/smells in). Notes were left and put up to remind other campers to treat the bathroom properly, so it was addressed. Some trash left behind at our campsite by the previous visitors, but only took a few minutes to clean up. Remember to always leave a campsite cleaner than when you arrived! Overall a fantastic time!

The view of Mt Whitney from the Lone Pine Campground is superb. Halfway between the town of Lone Pine and Whitney Portal makes it a perfect location. Best of all, the toilets were clean every day.

The campground is so peaceful nestled at the base of Mt. Whitney. The vault toilets are clean.

This is a nice little campground in the eastern Sierra. I like it very much and have been going there every year for many years. My problem is that recreation.gov has a problem with that system. Because when I got there with my reservation which was made six months in advance the site I wanted was taken and the little card at the site said that someone else had already reserved the spot. The campground host looked it up and said yeah thats your spot I dont know what theyre doing. And recreation guv has not told me what the problem was so now I fear that it might happen again Until they fix that glitch in their system Im gonna be wary of using recreation.gov anymore.

Site 026 is not suitable for trailers. Difficult to get into and it is impossible to level front to back. Pavement very broken. Looks like a great tent site however.

Lone Pine CG is a true gem. And Don the CG Host is one of the best - very accommodating, yet fair. The grounds and restrooms are always spotless.

I love this place. Beautiful location. Camp host was great!Stayed here a couple nights on a Hwy 395 trip in Sept 2019. Had stayed here previously, 20 (?) years ago before hiking Mt. Whitney.I made the seriously dumb mistake of not taking enough water with me for a mtn bike ride (and hiking - lot of stuff I couldn't ride - pushing bike/hike) in the Alabama Hills. 95 degrees out. Running out of energy. Compounded mistake by attempting what I was thinking would be a short cut (off trail) back towards the paved road. Should have had a trail map too. Not a large area but definitely a challenge.
