I booked for site #12. When I arrived, I noticed that the camp host was using a generator at site #11. So, we ask them to change to another site. The toilet was clean, the fresh water was available. However, some of the tap has a rusty taste.

Beautiful area!! easy to find (we downloaded offline google maps). Very friendly host. Vault toilet well kept and clean. Water spigot and firewood available. Big bear box. Nice to hear the creek, very relaxing. We stayed at #12, nice tree for shade and can fit 2 tents. Most campsites can only park 1 car. Easy access to trails and town.

Literally one of my favorite places. The view alone is enough to keep bringing me back.

Nice campground and a great option for accessing the Whitney Portal. We were in site 12 and it was spacious and had room for several tents. There was a very large tree that provided shade throughout the day. Sites are well spaced for privacy with intervening vegetation. A much quieter and private experience than camping at the Whitney Portal Campground. Bathrooms clean and well stocked. There is potable water at the campground even though the reservation listing said no water. Camp host was friendly hand helpful.

This is a nice little CG as an alternative to Whitney Portal. Except in summer it's too hot. But I guess if you have a self contained rig with AC (which I don't) that's not an issue. It would be nice if there was more shade for those hot months. Alot of the big trees that were providing shade have died & have fallen or been cut down. Maybe the FS could plant replacements or construct shade structures, like I see in other very warm areas... This poor CG gets pretty roughed up with flash flooding & has been closed for repairs a good portion of the last couple of yrs. Some of the site pavement is in bad shape & could use some repair/replacement...

It's gone downhill in the past year. They seem to be short-staffed, as the campground host was only around briefly for a short time all three weekend days we were there. Some people were needing the host on Saturday, but none to be found. Roads and pads are broken-up and in disrepair. But with a beautiful view, it's still a good visit.

I love this place. Bathrooms were clean. Only issue was being able to get wood for our fire pit, it was locked and no one around to open it. I listened to recommendations and didnt bring my own, but knowing that maybe it would be available, may consider bringing my own next time.

Campground was old, run down and road was very narrow as was campsite. I could not get my truck & trailer to fit in small campsite so I cancelled with the Camp Host on Monday 4/25. You cannot cancel the day of on line. Now back in town I am trying to get credit for 4 days I didn't use but seems unlikely. I have found most USFS & USPS campgrounds poorly maintained and sadly lacking basic amenities like water & a functioning dump station.

It was cooler at this campgrounds than what the forecast had stated for Lone Pine, we think it was because of the elevation difference from the village. This campsite was clean, fairly large and was comfortable for our party of four. Rodins room the floors during the daytime hours as they were searching for food on the ground, if you have pets please bring a cock for them to get away from insect bites. Because there was a Creek nearby and may be stagnant water there were some mosquitoes. Red ants roam the floors during the daytime hours as they were searching for food on the ground, if you have pets please bring a cock for them to get away from insect bites. Because there was a creek nearby and may be some areas of stagnant water there were some mosquitoes. I for one often get bit by mosquitoes or some others that were staying with us had no issues. There wasnt direct access to the creek from our site but that didnt bother us. The camp host was always available and very pleasant, if you had any questions he was quick to provide information. Firewood was available to purchase on site. The bathrooms were cleaned daily and another camp host could be seen removing trash and separating the recyclables, again also daily. Also, it was very quiet here even though the campgrounds were fully booked. Everyone was following the rules for quiet hours, not always the case when you go camping at other places. During the day neighboring campsites were close enough that you could hear voices but not make out words. So all in all we really enjoyed this trip! Thank you to the camp host and this wonderfully kept campgrounds near Mount Whitney.

Fishing was better than expected. Campground well kept. Lots of hiking in the area. Short ride into town for necessities. I was a little concerned over plague issues but no one else seemed like it was a real issue.
