This place is so beautiful and wellWorth the scenic drive. The first day we got here we were immediately greeted by the camp host by giving us a big smile. I also asked if it was okay to set up camp an hour early . He said yes and gave us directions to where i had reserved a campsite for a few days. Upon arrival, the camp site was clean and well maintained. Plus potable water was nearby. We set up camp and decided to unwind and relax for the remainder of the day. The second day a thunderstorm was brewing. And when the rain came we were treated with a lightning show. Call us crazy cuz we were hunkered down under a tarp, while everyone else was in their RVs. Yes it was cold and very wet, but it tested our mettle. On the third day, the sun emerged out of the clouds, a d thats when we went fishing and walked around the whole campground. I was greeted by deer along the way and by other campers as well. This place is really special and im so glad i had the opportunity to experience this lake. I would advise everyone, to at least come here and camp for a few days.

Beautiful mountains surround this dessert-like campground. Few campsites have shade, therefore, bring a strong canopy that can withstand strong winds. The nearby lake shore is wonderful to fish from or take a dip in. Bring quarters for the campground showers. Across the street by the RV park, is a great camp store that has most everything you might need including bags of ice. Within the store is a wonderful cafe that serves breakfast and lunch closing at 2 p.m. daily. Close to the store is a fish & duck pond where you can get out of the summer sun. Enjoy!

Wish there could jave been a trail across the street to get up to waterfall. Lake was great. Nearby town was cool.

I liked the campsite! Great views, hiking routes with amazing view, multiple lakes, small waterfalls, snowy peaks. Barry was great and helpful host.Pros:- everything I've described above- clean restrooms with dryer- fresh water from the lake- hot shower using quarters- wild animals- picnic table, bear canister, fire pit (wood costs around $8, enough for 1 night)Cons:- I got spot 005, which didn't have any trees. I'd recommend 17 or something closer to the lake, you'll be surrounded with trees and bushes.- Wind. I'm not sure if it was only this weekend, but I couldn't sleep because of the wind. My neighbors had to sleep in their car, as their tent collapsed.- Far from Bay Area, driving was exhausting, but I loved driving through Stanislaus mountains.
