We always have a great experiences at New Shady Rest campground. It's clean, the hosts are always helpful and friendly and we feel welcome when we come. Unfortunately, when a great spot is discovered, it's better to keep it to yourself. There are lots of people who don't know camping etiquette and can ruin a great place.

very nice facility with portable water and lots of restroom. large campsite with fire pit and chairs. usually you can get the First come first serve spot left if on week days

Beautiful campground however extremely tight!!! We have a big Chevy Silverado and tow a 28’ Airstream and barely made it around the boulders and pine trees along the drive throughout the campground. Once to our site we realized we didn’t have the clearance to maneuver the trailer in our site. The site was long enough for us but with the tight turns and trees and the camper across from us - we couldn’t get it in without scratching/denting our rig and we were not willing to do that. We were really disappointed and had to give up our 2 night camping trip at New Shady Grove. I won’t make another reservation there since i can’t guarantee we’ll fit even though it says they can accommodate our size. Such a bummer. Really a beautiful campground close to town.
