Great campground, wonderful camp hosts, bathrooms were clean and well maintained, convenient location to trailheads for hiking. It is very active with bears, so using the bear box, keeping a clean camp and not keeping food or scented items in vehicles is very important. Would stay here again.

Great spot for camping before entering John Muir Trail via Duck Pass. Short walk to trailhead.

The campsite I got was far from others which made the stay nice! It was very spacious, not crowded or even close to the next campsite. Short walk to lake Mary. The campsite was clean. Bathrooms very near by. 10/10 would stay here again!

Great campground with access to several trailheads.

It is a lovely campground, but the road through it is awful. There are manny ruts and huge holes in the road that make driving through it with an RV a dangerous and destructive experience. This has been he case for many years, with an occasional filling of holes with some small rocks that don’t stay put.
Cars coming into and out of the trailhead parking lot at the top of the campground fly through, weaving around the holes. Nothing has been done to enforce the 5 MPH speed limit. It’s amazing that no children or adults have been hit or killed. Or have they?
The crowds this summer were the worse I’ve ever seen in over 40 years of camping there. I’m sure COVID fatigue was the culprit.
On the plus side, the campground hosts this past summer were very friendly and helpful, especially Paul and Beverly(?) in the lower area.
I’m not sure I’ll be back, as Recreation.gov won’t let you make more than a one week reservation, even though the sign at the entrance states there is a two week limit. It’s not worth all the preparation and long drive for only one week.
