Such a wonderful campground. We always love staying here. Unfortunately on this trip it was marred by the stupid actions of drunken people. Due to their actions our favorite and beloved bear was killed. He was euthanized not because he was a bad bear but because of the actions of these campers. The camp gives each site information about bear safety. Apparently they did not read this information. Such a sad situation. If you want to camp here please know you will encounter wildlife. Know what to do to protect yourself and the animals. If you plan on drinking and not being throughout go somewhere else.

This may be the nicest campground in Mammoth with the creek running on both sides of it. You can hear the water from camp & if you are lucky enough to get a river view camp site, its so beautiful. Nice bathrooms & friendly camp hosts. So close to town - 10 mins and yet you feel immersed in nature.

We were disappointed that we booked our reservations months in advance. Site #12 was listed as a first come and first served site at the time we booked our reservation. It is now a bookable reservation site. Site #13 is very, very difficult to use with a 19 1/2 foot travel trailer. Difficult to maneuver a trailer into this site.

Campsites were nice and spread apart. Lots of RV and trailers with lots of people but people were respectfully quiet. Nice hike to Emerald Lake. Can use to launch for a backpacking trip up to Duck Pass and Lake.

Beautiful camp spots at Coldwater and the camp-host were the absolute best around. They will try to help you with any and all questions including wanting to stay a score on a camp spot you'll love. Their is allot of trail heads around and a creek on each side of the camp ground to walk to and enjoy me time or do a little fishing. Our camp host Eric and Tina made our trip great with lots of firewood and excellent cleaning of the facilities everyday. This campground is very quiet at night and respectful of all neighbors. Been camping here for over 20yrs now and its our escape every summer from Reseda Ca.
