Nice bathroom with hot shower, but road noise and train TERRIBLE!!!! This campground is in the middle of 2 cities and along a major highway. Did not seem like a Nat park campground at all!

Easy to make camping reservationsI did so in advance. Dunewood was clean, and rangers/staff were friendly and helpful. Great experience, but gave 4 stars due to lots of standing water at campsite think that attracts mosquitoes even more. Bring lots of bug spray. We cooked most of our meals, but did get takeout from Pizza Terra one nighthighly recommend! We hiked the Miller Woods Trail, which was beautiful, and we were nearly the only people at Miller Beach, also beautiful! We also spent time at West Beach so the kids could swim with more people and lifeguards nearby. Indiana Dunes beaches are great, and we appreciated how they were very natural and relaxingnot commercialized.

This campground was wonderful! There was ample space between campsites. The campsite had a shower house with bathrooms and a campers sink for washing dishes. There was a great place down the road to buy firewood for cheap! It was a quiet relaxing place to stay only a few miles from the Indiana Dunes.

Campground is well maintained by a friendly staff. Sites are well spaced offering plenty of privacy. The only negative is the campground's location. It is sandwiched between three busy highways and two railroads. There was a constant buzz all night mainly from I-94. This was augmented by train horns. May not be a big problem for RVs but we were tent camping.

Campground was to far away from the actual park. Pricy for rustic, no amenities, no electric or water.

Loved the space between sites. I’ve never experienced this before.

Dunewood campground is an amazing place! You're very close to a few great beaches on Lake Michigan, as well as marshes and other natural features. The campground itself is well maintained and has everything you need. My only gripe with the location of this campground, which might be more directed at the state's DOT, is that the intersection of Route 12 and the road leading to the campground is dangerous. I witnessed a horrible accident involving a car and two ppl on a motorcycle the night I checked in. There should be better signage and lower speed limits at this intersection!

I arrived just before sunset, and the camp host came by, gave me a brochure and recommended a quick drive to the lake for sunset. He was very welcoming and gave excellent information. I liked that I saw him make the rounds several times while I stayed. On the paper map of the sites, they seemed very close; BUT, the way they are laid out and the way the sites are tucked into the trees make it so campers were not all on top of each other. I started my first full day at the Visitor Center. BEST FIRST STOP EVER. There is a small gift shop, and an information booth (as well as some displays and area information) - the person at the info booth asked me what I was interested in, and I told her; she then produced brochures for my interests and gave me advice about the area. I drove to the trailhead and hiked a portion of Glenwood Dunes Trail. later, from the campsite, I walked to the "Century of Progress" homes then walked over the dunes to the lakeshore to dip my toes into the COLD water! There is a MARATHON gas station right outside the camp entrance where I bought the wood for my fire. Really nice owners. I highly recommend this entire community. It is family friendly, great location, and extremely clean. Did I mention the HEATED bathrooms with FLUSH toilets? Heavenly! ((I am a tent camper, and most people there that weekend were in tents or small rigs))
