Sites were very nice. Lots of trees. Semi-private (neighbors not close--see pix of individual sites). Level gravel tent & activity pads with wood borders, trash hooks. Reflectors for backing up at night. Train nearby, but not too loud. Catholic church right outside. Convenient to the Dunes.Restrooms were average for a campground. (Not many shortcuts from further campsites due to trees.) Four large individual shower rooms per area (non gender-specific). Large camper sink.

Awesome campground. 1 mile walk to the beach where you will catch an epic sunset.Got completely destroyed by mosquitos. The worst Ive ever experienced. The second you get out of your car at the site, they are on you. Would love to return in early October.

The campground itself was clean and the facilities were nice. The problem was the noise. The campground is too close to a major highway/interstate and the train tracks. Trains ran what seemed liked every 2 hours throughout the night with their whistles blaring. Being that we were in a tent, it goes without saying that we did not get much sleep that night. I would recommend that a warning or notice be placed on this campgrounds site for excessive noise as it was definitely not a peaceful experience. Other than that, I would give the campground 4 stars for its cleanliness and friendly staff.

We spent 3 nights here, Oct. 12-15, 2021. It was quiet. The campground occupancy was probably about half full. It is a very wooded campground, and it rained most of the time we stayed there (cant control to the weather right). So our solar was pretty much non-existent. However the rain made the area smell marvelous. We will definitely be back at some point in the future.

Campers across from me had a noisy generator run all night. Other than that the campsite was very nice.

This was our first experience at the Dunewood campground. The campground is wonderful! The sites are very spacious and spread out. The bathhouse was excellent. Modern, clean, spacious. We loved our experience and highly recommend the Dunewood Campground.

We do have one suggestion. During the time were there, the area was experiencing bad weather including high winds, heavy rains, and tornado watches and warnings. I know that it is the responsibly of each camper to monitor weather conditions and to maintain personal safety. However when camping sometimes you do not have as much internet access as other times.

One night a Park Ranger did drive through the campground with his lights on and made announcements about the bad weather predicted for that night. That was greatly appreciated. We were tent camping and because of the rain we did not spend as much time at the actual campground as we would have during better weather. We are not sure if a Ranger made other announcements at other times that we may have missed. The next day we went hiking and came back to the campground at 3 in the afternoon. Although the campground was sold out most people had left. Even though we had two more nights reserved, we decided to leave early and drive home to Ohio. After we left, we monitored the weather for the campground and it was bad with tornado warnings. We were glad we had decided to leave early. Again, I know everyone needs to be responsible for themselves but perhaps consider sending text messages to campers during times of dangerous weather conditions so people can make informed decisions about staying, leaving or taking extra safety precautions. Thank you for considering.
