We had a great time at the Dunes Campground. The host was very friendly and helpful at check-in. We walked to the beach, which probably is about a 20 minute walk. The campground was well kept and the showers and restrooms were very clean.

One of our best camping experience to date. We actually have a small hybrid camper and a was a little concerned about no hook up. It was wonderful. Most of the sites, if not all, in the Mather Loop are shaded by trees. The vegetation is so dense around the sites that you hardly see a few sites away. The showers and bathroom were clean and water was plentiful. Judith who checked us in was friendly and offered great recommendations. It was quiet at night with fires and conversation, the nights are dark and I felt totally safe. I would recommend taking bikes if you like to get around without a car. The beaches is about a mi away but on sidewalk/shared bike road. If you are going on the gravel trails get an official report of conditions. We rode about 5 mi to the Visitors Center and about 1/3 was under water. We probably could have taken back roads. Our only concern was that the campground was never more than 1/3 full and yet it said FULL, made me mad that presumably people are not cancelling their reservations leaving it open for someone else to enjoy.

A very nice campground. The RV sites were paved and level, which we thought was great. Close to the beaches/dunes. A relaxing stay.

Good place but difficult to park our 25 ft trailer. Everything else was very good. It was nice to be so close to the dunes!

It was a well maintained campground with friendly hosts. Its location allowed us to bike straight from camp to see some of the sights. Even though it poured most of the time we were there, the campground was a lovely place to sit and wait out the deluge!

Nice sites with large outdoor spaces. Perfect to sit outside and enjoy the campfire. Easy access to the National Shoreline sites.

The Dunewood campground is beautifully wooded with spacious sites. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful.

Nearby Kemil Beach in the Indiana Dunes National Park is awesome for long walks on the beach and spaces to relax au natural.

The campground has well-maintained and decently spaced sites. The facilities are clean and convenient. I had an enjoyable and peaceful stay.

This campground is not suitable for Class A motorhomes. There were many low-hanging branches that scraped the top of our RV while driving to/from our campsite. Our campsite was not flat, and it took over an hour of using different configurations of leveling blocks to get the leveling jacks down properly, in order to extend the slide. The campsite was 1.5 miles from the shoreline, plus another 2-3 miles to the dunes. It just seemed like a local campsite the NPS bought to say camping is available at the NP. Should have stayed at the Indiana Dunes State Park instead

This was our first time: we really enjoyed the park. Staying by the stream added a beautiful dimension to our experience, as did the fireflies. We will certainly consider returning.

Sites are small and the road does not have a turn around even though the map indicates that it does. Made for a very difficult set up. Men's room was not very clean and the showers don't have any seating or place to keep your clothes dry.
