We've been coming here for the last 14 years, and it has always been pleasant to camp there for 8-9 days until this year. The lady camp host Judy was so rude to us that we left early. She was also rude to my parents the year before. My parents and my family are no longer interested in camping there because of that rude lady host. We always camp at Dunewood around October for 9 days. Three to four families and 3-4 campsites every year. We don't think we can camp there again because of her. Also, the bathrooms are being cleaned when everyone is using it. They used to clean the bathrooms at 10 or 11, but this year they cleaned bathrooms between 8-9am when everyone was using it. Maybe post the time when to clean the bathroom so people can plan when and when not to use the bathrooms.

Received a very warm welcome when I checked in. Spot was perfect and loved all the trees around the site. Would definitely stay here again!

Very large sites. Bathrooms and showers were clean and worked well. The camp hosts were friendly and attentive. Trails in park were well maintained. We will be back!

I like Dunewood. Each site has an individual quality to it (it's not a parking lot). There's plenty of space between sites and the forest environment adds additional privacy (a bonus!). I've camped there 3 times and was welcomed and checked in each time by the camp hosts within minutes of arriving. Electricity is not provided, so bring alternative power if you need it. I'm fine in my 16 ft. camper with on-board batteries. They do have flushing toilets and showers that are very clean and serviced every day. There's a nice Visitors Center on IN-49 with lots of info on things to do and explore. You can check their calendar from the website and plan to go when you see something interesting going on. If you want to camp, do your homework and choose a campground that fits the type of camper you are. If you lean towards boondocking and like a more primitive experience, Dunewood is a good place for that. If you like full hookups and extra amenities, then you'd be happier at the Indiana Dunes STATE Park campground (that's within the National Park). And if you choose to camp in the summertime, you've got to expect that Summer + Forests = Mosquitoes. The staff cant keep the bugs out. Better to go in early Spring or late Fall if you can't protect yourself from them. If tent camping, you may hear traffic at night due to the highways, interstates and train tracks nearby. I've experienced all those negative things, but Dunewood and the area around it is still one of my favorite places for its beauty, the beaches and tropical vibe. And I'll be going back. It all depends on how you see it.

Wonderful camp site and amenities

Sooooo noisy. I-94 is nearby with constant noise. On the other side is the train, with horns every 15 to 20 minutes. The campsite was nice, but never again!

Nice, clean, quiet campground. The bathroom and showers were nice and clean. There were walking trails accessible from the campground which was nice. It was very hot while we camped so lots of bugs, but otherwise enjoyed this for the night.

Our campsite was nice, shaded, flat, spacious, etc. However, any kind of beach was too far to walk to. Next time we'll stay at Indiana Dunes State park, with electric hookups and a beautiful beach very close to the campground.

This was a lovely, woodsy, spread-out campground.

An added bonus: the other campers were friendly and considerate.

The campground was just fine with clean bathrooms and large sites. Indiana Dunes National Park, however, was a major disappointment and in no way compares to other National Park experiences. Lake Michigan is beautiful but not National Park worthy.

Beautiful and quite. Nice people and gorgeous scenery.

The perfect site for us. With in walking distance of a couple nice hiking trails and a short drive to Lake Michigan. The site (as most of them are) was very wooded and not too close to the adjacent sites. The rest rooms were kept pretty clean.
