We stayed at one of the walk-in campsites in mid-October. Since the walk-in sites are positioned around the parking lot and campground loop, most are a relatively short walk to the bathroom/showers. Sites are a good size with plenty of space for tent and room to move around. Fire ring at our site was in excellent condition. Camp host was easy to find and helpful, directing us to where to get firewood. The campground itself does not sell firewood, but there is a gas station very close by that does. Dunewood Trace trailhead is also accessible from the campgrounds, which is another plus, since the trail is connected to the Glenwood Dunes trail system. The main caveat with the NP campground is that they are about 10 miles from the beach. We didn't really mind this, as we would have to drive to Cowles Bog and other sites regardless, but if you prefer a walk to the beach from your campsite, the SP campground might be preferable. Otherwise, we liked Dunewood, as good as the other NP campgrounds we've stayed at.

One of our favorite campgrounds in the Midwest! Spacious, clean and well maintained sites that are located only 1 1/2 miles south of Lake Michigan! The campground hosts were very efficient and attentive to our needs. Located halfway between Chesterton and Michigan City, you have quite a selection of restaurants and bars to choose from. Make reservations well ahead of time -- it fills up fast!

Very good location to explore the Mt. Baldy area with a bicycle. Some of the trails would be better with a mountain bike but doable with a road bike with 32mm tires or larger. Otherwise the roads are bike friendly and a pleasure to ride. Take a short car ride to the West end of the dunes and be presented with better trails and great road rides. Although a mountain bike would be better for most trails in the National Park confines.

Arrived late in the evening. We brought along our 9 month old and our 1 year old pup and the campground was kid & dog friendly!! The staff on duty were very helpful, we will definitely be back for more camping trips here

Between the hot water showers, water bottle refill fountain, and huge sink to wash dishes, was this even camping? We had rainy April weather, but the bathrooms were heated and regularly cleaned. We stayed in site 57 in the Douglas loop and could not have been happier. It’s a short walk from parking to the actual site, but worth it for the tree coverage!

We stayed at the walk-in sites. Nice, forested sites, spread out, with firepits, picnic tables, flat tent pads, and plenty of hammock trees. A full bathroom facility with showers, flush toilets and an outside dish/fish washing sink were nearby. The beach is an easy 1.5 mile walk (sidewalk), with a well stocked convenience store, gas station, liquor store, restaurant, and pizza food truck along the way. Altogether perfect for a weekend getaway. And one of the walk in sites is handicapped accessible with a nice ramp.
