Not worth the money. While one can camp for free or maybe for 10 USD a night at some of the most beautiful places in the US, this campground is not worth the money. 25 USD per night for 1 person with a tent, nonelectric site, with no parking next to your tent, is high-priced. When I just finished setting up my tent, they told me I had to buy a state park pass for 25 USD again. 50 USD in total is a rip-off for this place for one night. I didnt buy the state pass, wrote off the 25 USD I already paid online and left. I already paid 12 USD for the national park for nothing, as Google Maps first routed me there, and they refused to refund although they know this happens on a regular basis.

I love it there! Fall is our favorite time to camp! If you like to hike, the Dunes are right there....if you like the water, the beach is not far.... It's perfect!

We loved our campsite, but we were very surprised that it was a walk-in site. Despite taking a few more steps to set things up, it was a beautiful location under the trees. Very spread out from each other and peaceful. There is definitely constant noise from nearby businesses and people, plus the train runs at all hours.

We enjoyed a couple hikes, some time at the beach, and the 3-Dune challenge at the state park. Overall, the weekend was very busy and traffic/parking congestion prevented us from being able to get to any beach by car. We ended up walking from the campground to the closest beach, which was very beautiful. It was fun for the kids to splash in the waves a bit, but we had to be extra careful with the little ones as the water got very deep very quickly and the waves were strong.

A shuttle service would really help everyone be able to get to the different parts of the park. It was pretty frustrating to discover that we couldn't do what we had planned due to traffic and lack of parking.

I recommend the walk-in campgrounds for tent campers. You only need to carry your gear 1 - 2 minutes down a trail (though steps are necessary for most sites.. there are only 1 or 2 accessible sites). The sites are wooded and fairly private (your neighbor's site might be 100 feet away). Each site has a designated and prepared perimeter within to pitch tents (so, no tree roots! no sloped sites!) which also include a fire ring and a picnic table.... And by the parking lot (from which you hiked), there are restroom and shower facilities which are decently clean. I enjoyed my stay!
