Stayed on site 007 in the Owl’s Roost Loop for 5 days. First I must say that South Marcum Campground is one of the nicest COE campgrounds we’ve visited. Hosts are very friendly and accommodating. There are some beautiful campsites here both on and off the waters of Rend Lake. The bathrooms and shower facilities are some of the cleanest I’ve ever seen. An 8 foot wide paved bike path starts in this campground and runs for miles around the southern part of Rend Lake which is a biker’s dream. Deer walking right up into the campsites daily. I will say that the sites on Owl’s Roost Loop can get very noisy from interstate traffic if the wind is blowing in the right direction, so I will be avoiding this loop in the future. The other loops in the campground seemed much quieter. This is an excellent campground that we have already made two future reservations for.

Such a beautiful place. Saw deer and turkey there almost everyday of our stay. The campsite we stayed at wasn't too close to the other sites. Bathrooms were close by. The town was close by and we actually had to go to the hospital due to my daughter getting sick but that was super close also. We will be coming back again! I will say the only thing I didn't like was the raccoons and how they weren't scared of us .

First time staying in site #7 and it was great. Nice and spacious and the neighbors were quiet. Will stay in this site again.

Confusing if you just drive up, like we often do. Reserved sites should be labeled. We found an open spot and moved in, and then found out they don't put reserve notices on reserved sites - sounds a bit lazy. Otherwise, a typically clean and well run COE site

We enjoyed camping at South Marcum. There was 6 campers in our group. We used campsites 2,5,6,7,8 and 9 in Owls Nest. They were all good. The only thing was campsite 2 needed mowed and there was no concrete pad like the others. But we enjoyed staying there and will stay again at South Marcum.
