Very quite and relaxing campground.

The web site showed openings so we went to check in. The gate host told us there were no openings. I asked to go look because the web site showed openings. All of a sudden they had sites available. As we drove thru, all of the sites (3) that showed available were open. There was a sign in the window that said all non-reservable sites are full. That was not true.

I reserved a site online. We arrived after 5:00 p.m. The little office was closed. The next day we were boating and hanging out at the beach. Apparently, we were supposed to stop by the little office and check in. I was not aware of the rule. When we were leaving, we stopped at the dump station. The lady came out and asked what site we were on. She was so very rude! she told us we should have checked in at some point. I told her we usually camp at Eldon Hazlett, you do not have to check in there. She told me I was wrong, although I knew I was right. When you reserve and pay for your site online that should be your check in. They drive around on their little golf carts and know if your there or not. I just cannot believe how RUDE and disrespectful she was to us. Because of her we will not camp at Dam West again.Be aware if you're going to camp there...check in as soon as you can or you will be talked to like a piece of garbage!!!

The restrooms are always very clean and well maintained. We camped on a weekend that was a bit rainy, so many of the reservations were cancelled. As such, we were able to show first come first serve and secure a formerly reserved spot. The spots on both sides of us were reservable as well, but were both empty. It was a nice quiet camping weekend with our dogs in a clean camp with a great location.

Beautiful, quiet, very well maintained campground. The hosts are always kind and helpful. It’s our favorite get-away!
