At a cost of $150 per night, there should be a place to dispose of garbage closer than 4 miles away. Putting garbage in vehicles every night so the critters don't spread it around camp is not acceptable. The closest place to dispose garbage is located at the near the end of the Dent Acres boat Ramp, a slow 8 mile, 25 minute drive round trip. Hint: Assign one person in the group to be in charge of the garbage.

This was a great place for our group camp in mid-May. Even the bugs weren't bad with only a few biting no see ums, gnats or whatever, but not enough to need repellant. The reservoir was full enough that we were able to park boats at this camp after launching them from the Dent Acres ramp a little over a mile downstream. Be prepared for changing water levels if you park your boat at the group camp. In May the water level was rising (8-12 inches/day) so our ropes were very slack in the morning. I suppose later in the summer, one should be careful not to get beached as the water level drops. Using stakes in the bank worked very well to anchor the boats overnight. For a large group, sharing the only one-hole unisex bathroom near the covered area will cause a line (or an embarrassing interruption), but there is another dual-sex/double hole (4 holes total) facility that's walkable just up the hill (you'll never make it if it's a Taco Bell type emergency). The only thing this site is missing is running potable water, but you can get refills and even a shower with a 15-minute drive or 2-mile hike to the Dent acres campsite. The gate lock can cause issues. You'll have the key, but you're best just to keep the lock with you if you're going to have multiple people coming and going as some hilarious pranksters (irritated locals?) enjoy locking the gate behind you. I found this out after I pulled the boat out at the ramp and turned the key in. Then I had to turn around and drag the boat all the way back to the hosts who provided zero help with an extra key or allowing us to check out by leaving the key at the group camp. So, we returned once again to the gate, unlocked it, finished packing out of the group camp and then took the key all the way back again. That was the only irritating and wasted 2 hours out of the 6 days we were there. The camp hosts were otherwise very helpful, accommodating and good people. All-in-all, I'll definitely try camping here again.

Great trip and nice to have privacy for our group. I would have given five stars except the fire pit is located too far from the pavilion and RV sites. It was cold and rainy so we needed a fire. We had seniors in our group and trekking back and forth to the fire pit was not feasible. PLEASE install a new fire ring/pit near the BBQ's adjacent to the pavilion. RV's can't park there anyway so it's a perfect location. Otherwise a great trip and great site!

Has a lot of potential but not there yet. no water, no dump stations! some gravel but a lot large rocks to walk on, hard to do. only real place for the kids to play is to move the picnic tables out from the very nice covered concrete pavilion. had room for 11 trailers on main level, 8 with power. The only fire pit is quite far away from main area, not conducive to a large group, which is what its supposed to be for. Vault toilet was clean to start with but saw no workers in the 4 days we were there. All in all, fair but not great.

Make sure to pick up your key for the group spot! We didnt see anywhere that we were supposed to pick up a key so we thought we were locked out in the dark. Once we realized we had to go to the camp hosts they were amazing and gave us the key. They were suuuuuper friendly even though it was 9:00 and they were off duty. We didnt have a super big group but the spot was perfect for having some privacy. The pavilion has power and lights which was great for setting up in the dark. There isn't really flat tent spots close to the pavilion but lots of camper hook ups and bathrooms. There are tent spots up the road a little ways. The view was a breathtaking suprise when we woke up in the morning! We were right above the water. When the water is low the banks are super steep so its really a lot more fun having a boat but would still be a great time without. Were hoping to make this a yearly trip!
