Wonderful campground to experience Lake Pend Oreille and the Selkirk Mountains. We picked a lot of huckleberries and enjoyed the magnificent beach. Campsite #27 easily fit our OutdoorsRV 25RDS. Camp hosts are some of the nicest hosts in any campground we have experienced.

Beautiful campground right on the lake. But last year a extreme wind event blew over many of the Cedar and Douglas fir trees. Then the us forest service decided to remove all of the fir trees which seemed to be excessive in my opinion. I can 't live long enough to see the campground return to its former state. Hopefully there are plans in the works to replant and improve the damage that was done.

Sam Owen is a lovely campground with wonderful hosts. The restroom facilities are well maintained and the beach offers great recreational opportunities. Unfortunately, the campground looks like a war zone due to a previous storm and corresponding clean-up process. A large percentage of the tree canopy was affected. It was just sad to see and negatively impacted the serenity of the campground.
