Sam Owen Campground is located in the Sandpoint Ranger District, Idaho Panhandle National Forests (1 hr 13 min northeast of Coeur d'Alene, ID) with an elevation of 2,088 feet. There are a total of 80 campsites. The campground is normally open from mid May to the end of September. 78 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 20 and 60 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Fees range from $25.00 to $105.00. Some amenities include dump station, boat ramp, swimming, amphitheater, flush toilets. Activities include boating, fishing, floating sports.

I stayed in site 002 Reds. It was a nice open space with vegetation next to it near the entrance of the loop. There wasn't much tree cover so I would recommend a shade tent during the summer. The access to the lake's recreation area was close. I enjoyed watching the sunset and walking down in the morning with my coffee. I walked the site in the evening for a peaceful stroll birdwatching. I was camping alone but thought it would be a fun place to bring my family! It was moderately buggy.

Extremely clean bathroom and campsite. Lots of shade at the site. The lake was clean and beautiful. Having an umbrella at the beach was a must just because of the full San all day. Host was very nice and accommodating. They have ice for 4$ which was nice.

We had a great time, the space #30 was clean. The camp host took very good care of us. The camp area was very quiet and relaxing. We definitely be back next year.

Sites were nicely spaced out, the beach was clean and had a great view of the lake, and it was quiet at night. Great place to camp.

Site was perfect for my 35' 5th wheel and truck. Plenty of shade and sun for portable solar panels. Site was spacious and offered good privacy. No hookups, but central water spirits are available.

Campsite clean when we arrived. Camphost checked on us within a couple hours after arrival. Bathrooms clean, and a soap container at the sink. Overall stay at Sam Owen was perfect as usual.

Love the beauty and seclusion of the campsites. The space and isolation between the campsites is a great place. Plus the beach, clarity of the water, and great staff make it my number one go to place.

The campsite is on a beautiful lake, with lots of sites, and activities. The hosts were easy to find and very friendly. This site is close to a bathroom, the host, and the lake.

Campground hosts were amazing. Bathrooms were kept spotless. They delivered both ice and firewood to sites. Beautifully maintained campsites.

This is an older campground & although the outside of the bathrooms look old they are clean, maintained with flushing toilets. The campground was clean. Sites vary in size. 036 Skipping Stone loop was uneven but doable with blocks to level. It was a short walk to the lake. Richard the camp host was super!

Site 33 was on the lake & had shade. The site was difficult to level. The host was extremely helpful and maintained the park in excellent condition.

We had such a wonderful time at Sam Owen Campground. The camp host, Renee was amazing! We initially were going to stay 2 nights, but loved it so much that we stayed an additional night. Renee was so helpful in getting us taken care of. The campground was clean and you can't beat the views of the lake. We can't wait to stay here again!

Nice location very near flushing bathrooms and the lakeside. Nicely situated among trees; plenty of shade. Firewood available and the deer are friendly! Took a hike on a nearby trail and sat at the gravesite of Sam and Nina Owen. Whoever loved and buried them made sure they enjoy the most amazing view for eternity. It it quite touching. This is a terrific campground!

Our time at Sam Owen was quite enjoyable. A little less rain would have been nice, but it is what it is. The campground itself is quite large with several loops and has flush toilets with running water for the summer season. The fire rings were large and wood is sold in the campground. The dump station is a pay station, but at eight dollars I thought it was reasonable. The hosts we met were very nice and friendly and they had ice and wood for sale. All in all we liked our site and the campground in general. The swimming area was well marked, and of course no life guard. A concession had kayaks for rent. If you have a boat, the Beyond Hope Resort marina is right next door with beautiful slips and a good ramp. If there is one downside to Sam Owen it would be the boat launch. Fairly shallow, and in the waves, should you want to load or unload, come.in directly off the lake and make the launch challenging at best. The dock isn't much help for tieing up or anything else for that matter. Still a beautiful place that we'll likely go back to.

This is our second year using the Sam Owen Campground in Hope, Idaho for our annual church camp out. The park is absolutely beautiful! The park attendants are friendly and helpful. We go later in the summer so the beach has not been packed with great areas for children and an area for the dogs. We enjoyed the local #4 hike which was just the right distance and great for families. The bathrooms are well stocked and maintained. Appreciate the flushing toilets. The one draw back is the 6:00 AM Friday garbage truck that startles you out of your opportunity to sleep in on your vacation.
