This is our second year here. Sites were great, bathrooms were clean, access to lake was easy, campground hosts were amazing! We will be back again.

Campground was very quiet even though it was Labor Day weekend. Camp host was polite and checked on us to make sure we had what we needed. We were in Dancing Leaf section which has many pull through spaces.

Great campspot. Campspot 31 is perfect. Right by the water, great sunset views!

Beautiful and peaceful campground. Very kind and informative camp hosts. Would come back.

Nice campground. I would recommend improving site access as stumps and concrete barriers hinder easy entry to many sites.

I love the location of this site.

Every thing was clean, very little traffic, wood was too expensive for the amount you received. One bundle had three pieces of wood, but overall it was great

Lovely, clean campground. Beautiful lake. Would have loved to spend more time but we had to hit the road.

Our site was awesome and close to the bathroom, water spicket and beach but no sand only river rock so take shoes. Camp host was great and they have firewood and ice for purchase. We drove around all the loops and sites and definitely liked ours the best! We will be back!! Thank you

My family and I have made this place a family tradition. We love the full grown trees with campsites that have plenty of space and some have a sense of privacy. The lake is close by beautifully clear water with a nice swimming beach area. Restrooms with flush toilets (very clean) water faucets through out the campground and a dumpsite $8 water is free. The price is $32 a night almost 50% off with America the beautiful pass. No cell service nice place to unplug. We will be back.

We have enjoyed the Sam Owen campsite for many years, and this year was no exception. If I had to give it a rating I truly would say it was our best year ever.Why? Because of the camp hostess Renee. She is the very best hostess of any campsite we have ever been. We saw her last year too.She is so pleasant, she is very welcoming and does what she can to accommodate what campers needs are. The whole place in all loops are kept immaculate. The hosts and hostesses represent this beautiful campground with pride and enjoyment.I hope we get to see Renee again next year and the next.They make it look easy but what they do is endless and keeps them busy.Thank you for having us, look forward to next summer at Sam Owen.

The camp hosts were friendly and very helpful. Great crew that was working together.

The area is beautiful. The company that maintains this campground does not do their job at all. The picnic tables are falling apart, theyre patched together with pieces of wood that are uneven that is throughout the campground. The weeds are so tall in some of the sites its impossible to even put down a tent. The paths that go to the beach are not maintained well. You are literally walking through weeds to get there. They do nothing to clean up the beach of all the pinecones that have fallen from the trees. This campground used to be beautiful. It was turned over to this company and it is absolutely pitiful now the forest service needs to oversee this better and maintain it. It is a shame because this is one of the best campgrounds on Lake Pend Oreille and the company that maintains it has destroyed it.

The camp hosts were very friendly. Only complaint was dog beach was full with shades when no one was near the shades or had a dog.

While we liked the layout of the campground and enjoyed the surroundings, the park amenities were lacking. My wife uses a power wheelchair and couldnt enter some of the bathrooms and buildings because of the steps. The rest of the park could use some updating and maintenance. We liked the campground but it needed little TLC

Excellent camp hosts. Very clean. We had a lovely time.

I stayed in site 002 Reds. It was a nice open space with vegetation next to it near the entrance of the loop. There wasn't much tree cover so I would recommend a shade tent during the summer. The access to the lake's recreation area was close. I enjoyed watching the sunset and walking down in the morning with my coffee. I walked the site in the evening for a peaceful stroll birdwatching. I was camping alone but thought it would be a fun place to bring my family! It was moderately buggy.

Sam Owen is a beautiful campground with spacious camp sites. There is a beach and boat launch right in the campground with restaurants nearby and in Sandpoint. The only drawback is that there are no hookups whatsoever.

We had a great time, the space #30 was clean. The camp host took very good care of us. The camp area was very quiet and relaxing. We definitely be back next year.

Extremely clean bathroom and campsite. Lots of shade at the site. The lake was clean and beautiful. Having an umbrella at the beach was a must just because of the full San all day. Host was very nice and accommodating. They have ice for 4$ which was nice.

Sites were nicely spaced out, the beach was clean and had a great view of the lake, and it was quiet at night. Great place to camp.

Love Sam Owen. CampHost were great. Camp sites were clean.

Site was perfect for my 35' 5th wheel and truck. Plenty of shade and sun for portable solar panels. Site was spacious and offered good privacy. No hookups, but central water spirits are available.
@DonnaE3678436 · Camped on Jul 1, 2025 at Campsite #32
Campsite clean when we arrived. Camphost checked on us within a couple hours after arrival. Bathrooms clean, and a soap container at the sink. Overall stay at Sam Owen was perfect as usual.

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
