I really loved this location. The fall colors were beginning to pop at the lake. Roads to and from the campground provided many beautiful views of the fall colors. Although the bathrooms were composting, they had air fresheners that were amazing. There were groomed hiking trails around the campground and a brook. Our site had plenty of shade.

Very well-maintained campground with about 30 individual campsites, well-spaced apart from each other. The campground is a short drive from the Long Trail/Appalachian Trail, as well as numerous other trails in the vicinity. Two excellent country stores are also a quick drive away, JJ Hapgood General Store in Peru, and Bromley Market on Route 11. Bromley Market has amazing, enormous cookies, cake slices and whoopee pies (including maple) and delicious sandwiches. A note about Campsite #15 where I stayed. The site itself is probably the most secluded and quietest in the campground, since it is the farthest from the pond--this is why I choose it sight unseen. The site is lovely and shaded, very private, yet close to a toilet. However, the entrance to the site has a bit of an uphill grade, and the road is very narrow at that point. I have a small van (Dodge Ram Promaster City) and had no problem backing in, with just a slight scraping of my underside on the uphill, but I'm not sure a trailer could be backed in, because of the narrowness of the road. You'd have to have a lot of experience to do so. #14 and #16 also seem to have some uphill grade, but not as much as #15. That said, the #15 site is perfect for tent camping or small vans and camper shells.

I generally like the campground and beach area, but this time when we stayed here, it felt like I was in the middle of Lord of the Flies with out of control children running around, zooming around on bikes and screaming nonstop, starting fires, running through my own campsite to get to theirs, while their parents were off drunk at another campsite. It was really a nightmarish experience, and I likely will not be staying here again because of this atmosphere with absolutely no regulation or respect for anyone else's space or time in what would have otherwise been a very peaceful environment.
