Beautiful, recently renovated area. A little ways from GSMNP entrances but worth it and a beautiful drive. Peaceful forested area at almost 3,000 feet elevation with paved parking, nice washrooms, many good spots. Some road noise at times but didn't notice any at night. No bears this time but we were told they do show up there. Nice balance of spots in terms of some are good for tent campers and some are good for RV's (no hookups). #9 was perfect for our smaller RV and tow car.

If you have a trailer or RV, you should avoid the upper part of the campground which is more set up for tents. What look like pull thrus are more like pull offs for a vehicle carrying tent equipment. Very nice bathrooms with running water but no showers. The bathroom in the upper camping area had insufficient flush water duration and should be adjusted. This is a much nicer and quieter camping spot than Cades Cove and right off the Foothills Parkway for easy access. Its also relatively close to Townsend and in a very good location for camping except for obnoxiously loud motorcycles occasionally.
