I really enjoyed this campground. I am an amateur radio operator, and I wanted a site positioned on a hill or ridge. Camp sites 1 - 15 ascend the ridge, and the after that the sites descend slowly into a deep valley. I stayed in site 13 and I enjoyed it.The only negative criticism I can offer: the incessant noise of motorcycles climbing the foothills parkway. But I also recognize that parks are for people, not only me.

Wonderful campground. Very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful scenery. Recommend going to look rock tower asap. Was the best view I got the whole trip. Wonderful stay!

Reserved a spot with 50 amp. It as the most unlevel pad we have ever seen. Had to use jacks and blocks to get even close to level and ended up with 3 wheels off the ground. Office frequently closed. Campground host only seen 1 time in 3 days when they told us many people had complained about that spot but nothing was ever done. Will never go back! Also DO NOT follow Google Maps to get to campground. It took us up a terrible 7% uphill narrow hairpin turn road to the campground. Instead use Foothills Parkway if you are driving a motor home or towing a trailer or 5th wheel.

The campground itself is beautiful. Make sure you bring plenty of leveling blocks. The road coming in is a little bit crazy a lot of switchbacks at one point the fifth wheel touch the railing of the bed put a small dent.

This is a renewed campground, and the few electric sites will be fine once the new grass takes hold. Lovely wooded sites, but the idyll is interrupted by the frequent noise of blatting motorcycles. Not to point a finger but we couldnt hear cars or refined road bikes. Harley groups and exhaust-tuned Asian bikes were vacation spoilers. Unless you like that kind of thing. At 1 in the morning. And tell your power seeder contractor that grass will not grow on your lovely picnic tables. Ours was covered with the grass mixture.

Site 67 is extremely unlevel. The tongue of our camper had to be 27 off the ground to level. And it was 8 unlevel from side to side. Really sad consider this was closed for well over 10 years and they just repaved it last year or so. Zero concern leveling the sites was put into this project. And many of the step leading to the fire rings is actually on the drivers side of the camper or under the rear of the camper. The campground hosts are always super friendly and helpful. Its a great location and some of the site have electric and water.

This campground is very isolated. You can expect to drive for at least an hour to get to any of the park's main attractions like Cade's Cove and Clingman's Dome. The campground is newly reopened and "renovated". Renovation seems to be limited to having paved the road and the campsites. Little effort was made to make the campsites even close to level. Our site sloped steeply back to front and right to left, making it almost impossible to level the trailer. In addition, the site was not angled properly in relation to the road, so backing in and exiting was unnecessarily challenging. The only "official" presence in the campground was the host couple (who were extremely nice and helpful), and park mgmt seemed to have pretty much abandoned them to manage the campground on their own. In fact it appeared the entire park was pretty much staffed by volunteers. Rangers were almost nonexistent.
