It's a beautiful area and I can't wait to return in the fall.

Great spot by Jakes Creek with easy access to trails out of the campground and across from the historic summer cottages.

We love Elkmont campground and return every year. It's a beautiful place with clean facilities and spacious campsites.

With the assistance of a less-than enthusiastic on site customer service attendant, we moved from a reserved (seemingly congested) riverside spot in B to a seemingly quieter L8. Bad decision! L8 is too close to the restroom to avoid the clashing of not only the exterior restroom door, but also often the interior stalls as well-all hours of the night. Add to this the 24 hour lights illuminating our tent from the restroom interior and a good night's sleep this does not make. Okay that's the bad. The Good now- This is gloriously beautiful campground with really, truly nice fellow campers as well as retiree-park attendants driving around. Each were helpful and delightful. GSNP is a gem! We are so fortunate to have such an asset. We'll definitely be back... newly empowered with more suitable locations optimized for tent camping and peaceful enjoyment. Also, the recreation.gov website is great. Thank you.

We really liked how much room we had for our tent and did not feel like the site was the over crowded.

Even though the showers were still closed due to Covid, the camp experience was marvelous. Porta-pottys were cleaned every morning. Pre heated wood was scarce and hard to find, I recommend you plan time to find it on the way in. If you are going to camp at Elkmont please consider leaving your stupid dune buggy home, it's not the appropriate place for your toy and other people find them and you annoying. There are multiple great hikes just outside the campground. Bring water, find a waterfall, sit and breathe. The rangers seemed a little overwhelmed by the influx of inexperienced campers. Please do your best not to cause undo stress. They did their usual excellent job in spite of the added challenge. All things considered our camping experience was excellent. We can't wait to return. Remember ,if you feed wildlife you are most likely signing its death warrant. Learn how to bear proof you and your site before you go. Thanks.

very nice campsite near the fireflies! Bathrooms closed but portalets were ok. Fire wood needs to be purchased off site and had to have a seal for heat treatment. Would return a heartbeat.
