I've been coming to Elkmont Campground for thirty years, have camped all over the U.S., and believe it's one of the most beautiful campgrounds in the country. I'm happy to see the cabins in the old Daisy Town Appalachian Club being restored and always enjoy the peace and quiet found at this campground... I have noticed however, that with the rental of those horrible ATV buggies in Gatlinburg that the park in general has gotten noisier. I don't think those should be allowed inside the park. ...I also must complain about the cost of firewood at the store at Elkmont. I can remember complaining about paying $7 for a stack of firewood a couple of years ago and now it's $9.87! You will only encourage people bringing firewood from outside the park with those prices! ... We were also not informed of the closure of all the restrooms inside the campground before we arrived. which seems negligible on the part of the campground. I was sent a reminder of all the campground's rules but no mention of the lack of restrooms? This policy should be reviewed again... Otherwise, I had a pleasant stay and will probably return again but I won't buy firewood inside the campground at those prices.
