We had such a great time at Elkmont. The campground was clean and quiet, and falling asleep to the sound of the river was magic. The rangers and hosts were friendly and helpful as well. I made a note to bring a bottle of soap for the bathroom as there was often none.

Elkmont is a very nice campground. Little River trail is my favorite. It is an easy trail along the river.

The Elkmont campground was quiet and peaceful. The bathrooms on loop M were clean. We liked the space between sites and the sound of the river close by. We enjoyed hiking the Little River and Cucumber Gap trails, which are close to the campground.

Beautiful and well-kept! Even with the flushing toilets out of commission, the portapotties were the cleanest ones I've ever seen!! I loved that we could walk to some trails and even to the historical cottages they're restoring!

We had a good time but camping with my mother and my uncle who are older had a very difficult time with the Porta potty’s… So we ended up leaving early due to not having a real bathroom.
That was a very big disappointment for them as they thought it would be easier.

Restrooms were not working. Portable potties throughout campground. No directions on what to do with dishwater, as sinks were not working. And no light in restroom building that might have helped locate portable potties at night. Restrooms in the Cade Cove welcome center at back of loop was not clean and no soap available.

We reserved a site in a no generator loop and discovered that they allowed generators before May 15th. Not good!! No Generators should mean no Generators. As a Tent camper we hate listening to them. Elmont needs to change their rules if they want us back.

Of course, the location is great and the campsite is suitable. However, I found it difficult to determine availability. After one day, we decided we wanted to stay another day; however, it required several trips to the office to determine whether a site would be available. Ideally, that information should be publicly available and posted in real time for everyone to access. I cannot remember whether mobile internet service was available at the campsite or not. If so, that would be a way to do it. If not, perhaps another way could be found. Then, after we were able to make a reservation for another day, we decided to leave after all, but we were not able to get a refund. I wish it were easier to get a refund at a popular campsite where I am sure there was a demand for that site.
