We liked this campground a lot. We were in the L loop. The terrain makes the sites more private. Next time we will try and get a site right over the creek in the L loop. The bathrooms were well maintained.

Its a beautiful campground! I wish we could have stayed more than 2 nights, there is so much to do and see in the park. I cant wait to return.

Campsite L15 was beautiful and private to the back side. We enjoyed the views around the campground and the proximity to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge for quick errands. Bear proofing policy adherence is a must. We either saw or heard bears both nights we were there. It was October, so they may have been especially active before the weather cooled off.

Everything was great except there is not much privacy between sites

Tentsite L15 was a perfect combination of sun and shade, plus close enough to Little River to hear it.

Well run, very clean, very large campground. Unexpected we got to see fireflies from our campsite.

I love Elkmont but here is my issue: the reservation system in which people monopolize campsites that they dont use or cancel, and flooding tent pads. We had to move to a 2nd campsite for our 2nd night because supposedly our campsite was reserved (the entire loop was empty despite me fighting at 9am for a single site 6 months prior). After we moved to our new low-lying site and re-set up our tent, etc., a thunder and hail storm passed through and completely flooded everything. We are required to set up tents on those awful gravel pads, at least make them flood-proof?? Our tent was flooded from below and we had to retreat and abandon the campsite.

Have camped for many years at Elmont and it is always our go-to. This fall was different in that all bathroom facilities have been replaced by port-a-potties. Additionally, there are no longer any sinks for use. Park staff advised the pumping station and waste treatment systems are being updated. Project completion was supposed to be in April 2022 but all doubt that will occur. Just be prepared when you go. Take hand sanitizer with you for bathroom use,

Very Friendly and helpful staff. They took time to explain what I needed to know. Really liked the tent pads. Very good job of keeping the smokies pristine. Enjoyed the place

What a magical place! Although there was the ice restriction and portable potties, thy were clean, ice is just a few miles away. Nothing better than bathing in the River!
We had a great experience and our puppies loved the experience too! We visited the Old Elkmont cementry nearby, as well as old Wonderland ruins.

A great trip, but no fireflies OR bathrooms, so as a result, camp hosts and rangers were out a about looking for rules violations much more stringently than in the past 15 years of our experience. Rules about food storage, quiet hours, etc make perfect sense. Having part of your tires on some gravel and weeds in order to accommodate 2 cars qualify as a serious violation doesn’t make a lot of sense in my humble opinion. It definitely didn’t matter for the past 15 fireflies seasons.

stayed at both elkmont and cades cove on our trip and even though we enjoyed cades cove, elkmont was definitely the better choice of the two for anybody who is just camping in a tent. if theres an open spot on the water I highly recommend you take it. It is not only lovely to look at but also lulls you to sleep at night.

Loved Elkmont! The views are amazing, amenities are good. No electric, but that is okay!

Beautiful camping along the river. Bathrooms are close by and there is a mini camp store. It's not a far drive from Laurel falls or the visitor center, and there are some lesser known trails that you can walk to from the camp ground.
