The campground was clean and the toilets were well maintained. Staff was friendly. The campground was noisy on Saturday and it was difficult to sleep. Overall a good experience

First visit to the Great Smoky Mountains and it exceeded all my expectations! Such a beautiful campground, and we were lucky enough to see the synchronous fireflies, which were still actively flashing the day after the lottery! Loved all the old stone chimneys left along Jakes Creek Trail. Beautiful!!

It was a beautiful, quiet campground. There are all different sites; open ones, sites by a little creek, river sites and sites with walls of trees for the background. Rangers were informative and helpful.Great hiking close by.

I arrived after office closure and was planning to leave for a hike early the next morning. The lady at the little shop was super helpful. Proper check in the following afternoon was easy and straight forward. Camp ground was lovely, expectations were very clear (around safety/bears etc). Very much enjoyed my time

Perfect campground. We stayed on the L loop and the sites were nicely spaced. Every spot feels close enough to the bathroom. Speaking of bathrooms it was impeccably clean and well stocked. We stayed for about a week and took day trips from there. It was a great homebase. We found the easiest thing to do was to take that little secret road instead of the bypass when we needed to go to Pigeon Forge or beyond. If you make a left out of the park then its like the first significant right that you come to and its not even labeled but there are three bathrooms there and a lot of people parked there in the parking lot. Going that way you have to go over a one-way bridge. It takes you thru the Wear Valley which also has some fun stops like Goats on the Roof. The only negative thing I have to say is they did not enforce the rules regarding food storage and bears. We took it very seriously and put everything in two Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee (IGBC) approved coolers in the back of the car, one for cold and one for dry goods. We left nothing sitting out but we saw plenty of people with their coolers out and their full kitchen set up and we watched them drive away in their car. I even went so far as to go up to the ranger station to tell them that are across the way Neighbor left their full kitchen set up and there been of unlocked food sitting out on the ground. He told me the golf cart was being charged and the other one was out and they would take a look at it if they got time. A fed bear is a dead bear. I dont understand why they are not enforcing it. We will stay at Elkmont again when we visit the area. By the way, just for reference, we also stayed at Cades Cove during our vacation for one night. It was awful. Everyone talks about it like its the bees knees but the bathrooms are far away and campers are packed in like pickles. Skip it!
