We've stayed at Elkmont every time we've visited the Smokies. Bathrooms are always clean, and guests are usually pretty respectful. Parties are held at the cabins and music reverberates through the whe campground, but it's shut off by 10ish. Surprise, there's a cemetery behind Loop N!

We loved our time in the park! Elkmont Campground was very spacious & close to town. We loved the hiking trails that were super close to the camp. The beautiful creek running through, amazing. We even got to experience a storm while tent camping and even that was awe inspiring watching the mature trees take the brunt of the wind. Only thing that would make it better is if eventually Showers got installed! Haha we will be back.

The overall quality of the campsite and the location of the campgrounds was top notch. We had a great time staying at the campsite. The staff and the neighboring campers were friendly and respectful. My only negative experience with the campground were the bathroom facilities. We tried the both facilities at campsite L and K and they were both in bad shape. Unfortunately the Sugarland visitor center did not bode well either for the bathroom cleanliness.

L06 is a small site with zero privacy. You get all the car headlights shining at you.

We liked the campsite. The restrooms first off down the hill through the woods from us but people slam the doors all night long.

Absolutely love Elkmont campground so close to everything we wanted to do! Its huge but has nicely spaced campsites. It would be absolutely perfect if they had some sort of shower available even if it was cold, as a tent camper, it would be nice to have the option to shower after a long day! Regardless we will be back because of the location!

This was the first time we've visited the smokies. This campground didn't offer much privacy, though there were a handful of relatively private sites. We stayed in two sites--one set back from the creek (L06) and one right on the creek (K16)--and we actually liked our site that was set back from the creek best for this reason. You can hear the creek throughout the campground, which is lovely. Old but relatively clean bathrooms. This campground was very convenient and centrally located for exploring the park and had several lovely hikes within a 15 minute drive (or walk). Wild turkeys roamed the grounds daily, which was also a treat. I really prefer a little more space and privacy between camp sites so unless I could get one of the sites that offers more privacy I'm not sure I'd return. That said, I imagine the other front country campgrounds in this national park are similarly configured. Otherwise it was a really great place to stay and the convenience was a big selling point. Hopefully you'll be spending most of your time out in the park anyway!

Our spot was perfect, surrounded by trees and close to the campground facilities. From there, it was easy to reach the main point of interest in the park. In our first morning we saw a bear and two cubs in the campsite in front of us, so it is real that bears come close to the people and we were even more cautious after that. Thanks to everyone working in the park.
