My camp site was secluded and very quiet. I loved having campfires everyday and there was enough kindling to gather to keep my fires going in cooking and ambiance

Campground is excellent condition. Restrooms clean. The park staff continues to improve the monitoring of the synchronized firefly event.

We usually love Elkmont but this trip we were not told that the bathrooms were all out of order and only port-a-potties were available. Also like having firewood, snacks and drinks, and other necessities available at the campground concession but that was also unavailable at the time we were there. It is a beautiful campground with lots of trails for hiking starting at or near the site. Must see Daisytown, the Fairy Bridge, and hike the Jakes Creek-Cucumber Gap-Little River Trail loop. ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL

We have been camping at Elkmont Campground for over 25 years. Of all the campgrounds in the Smokies, this is obviously our favorite. We are long time tent campers. Elkmont has designated tent areas which does not allow generators which as a tent camper is great. The bathrooms are always cleaned on a regular basis and if there a issues, stop by the ranger station and they get it taken care of. Firewood is available and a small general store with your basic camping needs. There is a shuttle bus to and back from Gatlinburg several times a day for a buck. Believe me, it beats driving to town and trying to find parking which is next to impossible in October. Elkmont comes with a lot of logging history. A short walk out the back will take you to Daisy Town which is a collection of cabins reclaimed by the park system when their leases finally expired and are now being restored. Coming into the campground are the remains of the Wonderland Hotel. We would walk to it on a cold night for their cobbler. We were also lucky enough to spend a night the last weekend they were open before their lease with the park system also ran out. It was there with the logging and has since been reclaimed by nature. Elkmont is a great campground if you like fishing, hiking, history or just relaxing in your campsite. Also super kid friendly. I highly recommend it.

This was the worst National Park campground experience I've ever had. The campsite itself was great, the bathrooms were fine (no showers, but I knew that), and the location was perfect. BUT. There was absolutely no one monitoring the campground or enforcing quiet time. Our campsite was fairly small, and there was a group of 4 guys right next to us. They made no effort to be quiet, and one night were outside working on their motorcycles until 3am. Loudly. With headlamps that kept shining into my tent. It was bad enough that we actually didn't stay the entire time we paid for, opting to drive to a KOA outside the park. I was very disappointed with my stay at Elkmont. We stayed at Cades Cove earlier in our trip and had no problems, and saw park rangers regularly at that campground. I'm not sure why Elkmont was completely unmonitored. Terrible experience.
