No soap in several of the mens restrooms. Many lights in and around bathrooms were burnt out.

We did a cross country road trip and this was hands down our favorite. So glad we booked this site. Initially we booked another site in the campground, but I went on availability alert notice for river front sites which was an awesome feature. Was able to secure a site right along the river. It was sublime. The campground itself is amazing no matter what site you have, but man, being along the river and being able to take a dip, lay down and have river flow over during a hot day - perfect. This sit was gold, was able to step down a tiny ledge that lead to private-like access to the river. The sound of the river is great because we could play music and not disturb neighbors, and at night it was so calming. Smoky Mountains is a special place. Saw some fireflies too. Pretty cool.

Great time to visit the Smokies and to camp in Elkmont (Sept 28-29). Camp turkeys were great company.

Had a great experience last week at Elkmont. Check in was easy and informational [bear warnings]. Plan on going back against next spring when the campground re-opens.

The grounds seemed more tidy and less messy than in previous visits. Maybe that’s because they are allowing people to scavenge for firewood. I missed the bathrooms but will say the port-a-potty’s were the cleanest I’ve ever seen and they cleaned them every day. I missed the concession that sells wood & ice and misc. but I hear that is opening soon. It was a beautiful and relaxing week spent. And just like the past 30 yrs, we’ll be back.

We stayed at site K16 and LOVED it. It was a lovely location on the river, close enough to bathrooms but far enough away so it wasn't noisy. Rushing water from the river drowned out any noises at the campground/generators, although it did seem to be a quieter campground. Perfect central location to hit all areas of the park. (Call ahead to confirm if they have firewood/ice - in late April 2021 they did not.)

This was the first time we've visited the smokies. This campground didn't offer much privacy, though there were a handful of relatively private sites. We stayed in two sites--one set back from the creek (L06) and one right on the creek (K16)--and we actually liked our site that was set back from the creek best for this reason. You can hear the creek throughout the campground, which is lovely. Old but relatively clean bathrooms. This campground was very convenient and centrally located for exploring the park and had several lovely hikes within a 15 minute drive (or walk). Wild turkeys roamed the grounds daily, which was also a treat. I really prefer a little more space and privacy between camp sites so unless I could get one of the sites that offers more privacy I'm not sure I'd return. That said, I imagine the other front country campgrounds in this national park are similarly configured. Otherwise it was a really great place to stay and the convenience was a big selling point. Hopefully you'll be spending most of your time out in the park anyway!

Love this campground, with memories all the way back to childhood. Still well run, and feels the same as it did many decades ago.

The Smokeys are always awesome but the last time we were there the road to Cades Cove was under construction didn't even attempt to go that direction. Also it was very noisy with a lot of kids running around up and down the roadways. But staff is always very nice and grounds are always kept up well.
