We enjoy camping at Elkmont. It is easily accessible to the GSMNP activities.

Our campsite K15 was perfect and we could hear the creek, so peaceful. Bathrooms do not have an outlet and need some attention but that’s to be expected in a campground. This is such a beautiful part of the park, we love Elkmont and the synchronous fireflies were breathtaking! The person who worked at the firewood and ice station was so friendly.

One recommendation is to offer more detailed maps of hiking trails in and around the campground.

Love the setting of Elkmont. What a wonderful place. Campsites need some TLC as seems to be typical with this campground. Really need the gravel replenished makes for muddy, messy site when it rains. Host located by the registration was not helpful. Campground restrooms - are in need of renovation, they are old but fairly clean. In the Men's room the urinal screen guards are being used as deodorizer and not placed in the actual urinal. Horrible smell in ladies restroom and unbearable. No typical camp store, they have ice cream, ice and firewood available for very limited hours. NPS Staff only available for check-in 9am-5pm during our stay. No cell service or marked camp hosts in our loop. Our site K15 is a tight to get your rig in. The obstacles rocks front and a dumpster. It is located near a community water source.

Great stay at campground. Nice, shady level spot. (K15) Also, enjoyed Firefly event while we were there. Campsite was across street from Jake's Creek and able to hear creek all night.

Loved the location of the campground. However like others this summer the porta-john situation isnt great. They weren't cleaned often and some where nearly full by the time they were looked at again. The actual restrooms werent ever open even though Recreation.gov said they would be open for a short time in the morning and evening. Driving around the campground, they do need to re-pave the roads around the sites.

I have been going to Elkmont Campground since I was a kid (over 40 years now). I love the creeks there and the setting is wonderful. Always cool in the evenings even in the middle of summer.
