Loved our time at Elkmont. The river is beautiful! We stayed at K06, which was in a generator area, but we got lucky and only heard one generator for a small amount of time. Our spot was elevated on a platform, which did make it a bit difficult for a big tent to fit. The bathrooms were close and clean for a campground. There was wood available to buy but it was helpful to also have charcoal for our fire as well. We loved our time here and would definitely come back to camp.

The Elkmont area is one of my favorite parts of the Smokies! The campground is spread out so it doesnt feel over crowded and it contains a lot of different types of sites so you can pick the best one for you. I love Daisy Town, which is just up the road. I would definitely recommend it for anyone stopping through. Elkmont is always peaceful when I go and I loved every bit of my tent stay!

Elkmont has been my go to campground in the GSMNP for 15+ years. It is convenient, clean, spacious and secluded at the same time. There are trails accessible from inside the campground, and great fishing on the river and creek that traverse the grounds. There is something for everyone. The only downside, no dump station on site. If you are into unique expierences, be sure to check out the Syncronous fireflies in early June.

The fireflies were wonderful! Met up with 35 women and enjoyed our adventures so much. The area is beautiful, the places to explore are wonderful and the Elkmont Staff are so nice and helpful!

Elkmont always delivers! Some nits:Neither of our two sites had lantern poles. Maybe too early in the season? But still was missing from the mix. Lots of vacancies throughout the campground despite being full. This made us move sites unnecessarily plus we could have stayed across the street from our other party. A shame to have such limited hours at the concessionaire. Opening a couple hours earlier would make a big difference for those leaving for hikes and excursions early on the morning. Firewood also appears to be a victim of inflation, but lowering the prices would increase frequency and perhaps make it more economical for everyone. $10 bundles for six pieces of wood is a bit much.

Was great place close to all the highlights of the park. Only bummer was that the bathrooms were closed when we were there. So that meant that we had to you portable bathrooms Wich was unfortunate. Still would come back in the future!

The bath houses not working was a major issue, especially for my wife and daughter. I think it would have been better to just close the entire campground until the bathhouses were fixed rather than use porto-potties.

Also, $10.00 for firewood is out of control ridiculous. You can't bring your own wood so this is basically price gouging.

Park seems a bit run down now. The bathrooms were closed with no sign saying why or when it will reopen. Garbage all around the bathroom as well.
Also, the grass was not cut and got very high. Lots of muddy potholes in the sites/road as well.

Always a good camping experience at Elkmont. They're working on the sewage system right now, (1 May, 2021) so it's necessary to use portable toilets. My experience suggests they should be serviced more often. They were serviced on Friday morning, and were very full by Sunday.
