Elkmont campground is centrally located in the Smoky Mountains and less than 10 miles from Gatlinburg. Many camping spots are next to a creek. You can also visit Daisy Town, which is a restored working/vacation community within Elkmont. It's a quaint village (uninhabited now) that gives you a perspective on how people lived in the Smokies at the turn of the century. You will not be disappointed with your stay at Elkmont campground.

The campground is beautiful! Our campsite was very large. It was one of the quietest campgrounds weve ever stayed in. Our only issue was that the canopy of trees prevented us from getting any sunlight on our solar panels. Also, we had no cellphone reception inside the park.

The staff were all so friendly and helpful. I lost my phone in the forest on our last day there, and a hiker found it and turned it in to the office. The staff were so kind to contact me, and mail my phone back to me.

Nice campground with most campsites having decent space between neighbors (little foliage between so you will see each other). I really liked my site in K loop along the outside edge, but there were many along the river that were also nice. Dry camping with some loops allowing generators, others do not. Flush toilet bathrooms, dump and water fill 6mi away near visitor center. Campground within walking/biking distance to mant trails and Daisy town structures. Quiet campground in mid-Sept, stayed a week. Enjoyed it more than Smokemont.

Different from years past. Welcome to the era of no rules and a campground that hasn’t seen a mower in months if at all this year.
Generators running till 9:30p, people using industrial style loud generators, loud groups at night and more.
Watched workers on golf carts ride right by generators so loud they were heard over entire campground. Apathy at its finest.

We had a great trip, Campsites are well maintained and spaced well. Ony wish the bathrooms were open.

The grass at the camp sites needed mowing . We have been coming for over 20 years and have never seen it in such bad shape. We understand about the bathrooms, but it was not a fun experience.

Excellent location if you are interested in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, but best of all back to nature and great location for hiking or motorcycling. LOVED our stay...
