Well kept campground. Very large, so it can be a bit confusing to navigate, especially after dark.

Elkmont is the best campground in my opinion. Beautiful place to spend the with loved ones. Lots of hiking trails near by, the river is super cold and fun to be in on a hot summer day. This is our go to place when we want to get away for a weekend. The 13 hours are worth taking for this place. 7/1/22-7/3/22 K01!

The campground itself it not well maintained. The grass is not cut and, the sites are not clean, trees and bushes not trimmed of dead branches, etc. The paid rangers stay in the entrance building and are not very nice. They will tell you all about what you can't do (especially if you have any pets!) and are not helpful when you ask about things to do in the park. They just point to a wall of brochures on the wall. The non-paid volunteers are the best and do all the heavy lifting in the campground. They clean the bathrooms and the areas around it. They are will stop and say hi, and talk to you about in what is happening in the area. I would not recommend this campground. There are other campgrounds just out side the park that are much nicer.

Nice campsite, huge campground, not very private. We were in a tent and there were a lot of RV people camping when we were there. The couple across the way from us was particularly inconsiderate. Playing a radio loudly super late at night, and they had a light that shined right at us. Please be considerate of others when you camp here. There isn't much ground cover so sounds and light can travel far.

Great paths, wooded, quiet, 20 minutes from Gatlinburg, awesome campsite.
