No dump station at campNo bear container at each campsite like they have at Yellowstone and need to keep cooler in car. Close to gatlinburg

First time at Elkmont, campground is absolutely gorgeous!! Rangers in the office were very nice and very helpful. Was there for 5 days and loved every minute, will definitely be returning. Very convenient campground also, not to far from Cades Cove and Townsend and only about 10 minutes away from Gatlinburg!

Rangers are clearly burned out dealing with the public. Run down campground that is poorly maintained. No dump station, forcing more driving down already crowded and narrow roads. They preach environmental issues but CAUSE more pollution due to the lack of foresight. Cranky Host addicted to joy riding around in a golf cart with his dog offering no help or assistance. The guy is an absolute ZERO and poor reflection on the National Park. But mgmt. is spending untold dollars rebuilding old cabins that have no real value for the park while the basic campground facilities are broken and roads filled with potholes. Site pads are falling apart. What a disgrace. They have a monopoly and still can’t provide a basic clean and enjoyable service. Think of going to the post office or DMV in the woods and you’ve visited elkmont.

The port-a-lets used because the sewerage plant was not ready put a real damper on the stay. They smelled and were not placed in a discrete locations, (on the edge of the road was a real eyesore, bad decision!!!!).
The campground needed the grass cut, general clean-up from the winter and pot-holes filled. Limbs were hanging on the edge of the road and it just looked like there was no maintenance going on.
